The Shanghai Web Dev and Design Group is back!

We hope everyone had an awesome summer.

We are privileged to have a special guest to speak at our next event, Tobias Nyholm, who has traveled around America and Europe to speak at a number of meetups, conferences, and podcasts.

The topic will be an introduction to two of Facebook's promising new technologies. The HHVM ( HipHip Virtual Machine ) and the Hack programming language, which has become Facebook's de facto server-side language.

What are the benefits of these technologies that has since attracted giants such as Wikipedia, Baidu, and Box to start using them?

Date and Time:
7:30pm, Wednesday, 23rd Sept

Agora Space 1199 Panyu Road, Building 3, Unit 101. Shanghai

The event is free! People from all levels and backgrounds are welcome to come listen in and learn.

Talk description:
What is Hack and HHVM? Why should I care, I’m doing PHP? The talk will start with the background of HHVM and then the motivation for a new improved language (of course there are some bashing of PHP). You will learn the basic of Hack and how it differs from PHP. Towards the end, the talk will move on to advanced topics and cool new features.

Speaker description:
Tobias is a software entrepreneur and have spent many years working within the web development ecosystem. He is organizer of Swedish PHP meetups, co-host of the Sound of Symfony podcast and a public speaker. Tobias is currently working at Happyr.com (http://happyr.com/), a company that is trying to make the recruiting market more fair.
