We're on the edge of a new normal, where everyday products are custom made for and by each and every one of us. Today though, only a lucky few know how to create the digital models that become real products. If you haven't known where to start, this class will get you on the path to printing a Stradivarius in no time (http://www.economist.com/node/18114327).
This class presents the foundations of 3D modeling and 3D printing, and uses SketchUp (Google's free 3D modeling software) to apply those concepts. In the exercise, you will create a customised keychain, learn how to get it 3D printed on Shapeways, and sell customized versions of this and other products in your online shop.
Bring your Mac or PC laptop (SketchUp does not support Linux), your charger, and an external mouse. We do recommend that you create an account on Shapeways and download Google SketchUp prior to the class.
This 3-hour workshop costs €40 and includes a €15 printing voucher for Shapeways.
