As part of Emma Watson's work with UN Women, she has started reading as many books and essays about equality as she could get her hands on. There is so much amazing stuff out there! Funny, inspiring, sad, thought-provoking, empowering! So she decided to start a Feminist book club, as she wants to share what she's learning and hear our thoughts too. The book club exists since January 2016 and you can read more about it on Goodreads (https://www.goodreads.com/group/show/179584-our-shared-shelf).
The plan of her book club is to select and read a book every 2 months. I'm creating a Meetup in Leuven, where we can meet and discuss the books selected.
The Meetup platform is asking the organisers to pay a fee to be able to use the platform and organise meetings. Therefore I'm asking for a symbolic fee of 1 euro from each participant and you can pay that when you attend the meetings.
If you fancy it, please join up and participate. Everyone is welcomed.
On 4th of April, we will meet to discuss about the March-April book, discover the May-June book, and also get to know some new members joining our group.
The March-April book chosen is Fierce Femmes and Notorious Liars: A Dangerous Trans Girl’s Confabulous Memoir by Kai Cheng Thom (https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/32279708-fierce-femmes-and-notorious-liars).
You are WELCOME to join our meeting even if you have not read the book, but you plan to read the next one.
We are meeting in Mr. Bean (http://www.misterbean.be), a coffee shop on Kessel-lo side of the train station. They have coffee, tea, food and desserts available.
PS: the symbolic 1 euro fee is to help me cover the fee that the Meetup platform is charging to organise groups and meetings. The 1 euro fee will be paid by each member during our meeting on 4th of April.
See you on 4th of April, at 10:30.
