Some of the scrum teams in the Yahoo! Small Business group noticed that software defects were being caught very late in the game, during the final integration cycles. It caused major delays with releases.
The team worked with engineering leaders to create and implement a shift left testing approach to address the problem. We'll share that experience in this talk.
Product backlog grooming sessions, test mindmap reviews (aka test huddles) before the beginning of sprints helped the team cut down the requirement bugs. The team enhanced their unit testing practice and implemented SonarQube gatings to capture early quality issues before the code was being integrated. Fully integrated pipelines with zero-touch deploy capabilities with the help of test automation helped Yahoo! to bring down the defect mountains during the final convergence cycles. Yahoo! Small Business will talk about their wins and some of their fails.
