Hello fellow Sidetrackers,

The following are the upcoming outdoor events for the Sidetrackers. We encourage you to attend any event you like and suggest you contact the leader if you have any  questions and to let them know you are coming. Please visit our website at www.sidetrackers.com to read our newsletter and to see added details of many of our past and future activities.

Sep. 30        6:10 PM   Walk the downtown bridges/river walk

We will meet and park under the trees at the parking lot for  River City Brewing Company at 835 Museum Circle next to MOSH in downtown Jax. The walk is approximately 3 or 4 miles and includes both the Main and Acosta bridges, the North bank Riverwalk, and beautiful views of the St. John's River and the downtown skyline. After the walk we usually have a bite to eat at the River City Brewing outdoor patio tables overlooking the river and beautiful sunset. (Leader - Diane J. [masked]).

Oct. 2                7:30 AM     DeLeon Springs pancakes/hiking

We will have breakfast at Old Spanish Sugar Mill Grill and Griddle House at DeLeon where you make your own pancakes on a grille in the middle of the table. You can order blueberries, sausage, eggs, or other items to accompany your pancakes. Please let Diane know you are coming so she can make sufficient reservations ahead of time. Then it is off to the Wild Persimmon Hiking Trail, a four mile loop trail, that will lead you through several natural communities. Parts of the trail can flood during wet seasons and biting insects are common, so appropriate clothing and footwear are recommended, along with insect repellent and drinking water. De Leon Springs State Park provides access to Lake Woodruff National Wildlife Refuge where you can explore 18,000 acres of lakes, creeks, and marshes.

Meet at McDonalds near the intersection of I95 and Old St. Augustine Rd (13939 Old Saint Augustine Rd). Leader - Diane J. [masked]

Oct. 6                6:30 PM      Monthly Sidetrackers meeting

We meet at the Southeast Regional Library off Gate Parkway and JT Butler Blvd. to discuss recent activities, future activities, and to provide visitors with information of our wonderful group. Please consider coming and getting to learn more about our group and meeting many of the fellow Sidetrackers.

Oct 7-11        Th-Mon         Annual NC fall camping

We will travel to the Standing Indian Campground located at the headwaters of the Nantahala River near Franklin N.C. A group site for up to 25 people has been reserved. This is a beautiful area near the Appalachian trail. Most plan to arrive Thursday late afternoon and hike an easy to moderate 6 mile trail on Friday. On Saturday and Sunday we may visit some of the fall festivals in the area, do additional hiking, or take a rafting trip at Nantahala Outdoor Center. Check the newsletter for more details and come enjoy the leaves changing and camping in this beautiful part of the country. (Leader - Judy M. [masked])
