Join me with my new discovery, “Free Music in Downtown San Jose”. The Tabard Theatre (29 N San Pedro St), an excellent but somewhat obscure Theatre, has a new program. They bring in local musical groups and offer free music to the public. And, feel free to get up and dance! It’s happens on most Tuesdays at 7pm and is happening for the next two Tuesdays. Here they are: ….
May 6th Duke Mantee and the Gold Money Band; Liar’s Club; Sammy Varela (Blues)
May 13th The Swing Solution (Big Band)
I attended the April 15th performance (Jazz with a 15 piece orchestra) and it was quite enjoyable. The April 29th performance (Rock & Soul) was a hoot with the “dance floor” quite crowded. The theatre was maybe a quarter full (on April 15th) and half full (on April 29th) so, initially, this is a “drop in” affair. The Tabard Theatre Bar/Refreshment stand will be open for your gustatory & libation pleasures.
I plan to have dinner at 5:45 pm at the San Pedro Square Market. Meet us at 5:45 p.m. in front of the “Public Market Entrance”, 87 North San Pedro Street, San Jose CA. Then we will go inside and choose one of many inexpensive restaurants in the food court. If you arrive later, we should be eating in the courtyard (if it’s warm) or in the back building (if it’s chilly). The theatre is just down the street from our dining venue. Park across the street in the multi-story public lot. The Tabard Theatre will validate your parking ticket so it’s free.
Come for the dinner, or just come for the music, or come for both.
Oh, and did I say you can get up and dance to the music? And, it’s free? Parking too?
