Pah Rah Petrogylphs

The weather looks like it may hold out for this hike but it may be muddy and chilly. We will meet at Golden Eagle Regional Park (in Spanish Springs) at 9 am. Off Vista Dr, go to the softball parking lots, in the back closest to the desert! This is a 6 mile hike rt, completely exposed- no shade. Please wear shoes that you don't mind getting muddy. Bring water, snacks or lunch. Although it is mainly flat, the last few hundred feet could be a climb so poles are helpful. Well behaved dogs are ok with a leash. We should be out about 3-5 hours. This depends on whether the roads (dirt) are muddy or dry and how long we stay to admire the petroglyphs. We will be back in time to enjoy the Sierra Club Holiday Celebration at Bartley Ranch.

As this is a SC sponsored hike, we will ask for a $1 donation to help offset chapter expenses.

Beautiful day for a hike. Always wanted to see these petoglyphs that are so close to my home. It was an adventure finding them today but now that hiking boots are off, I can reflect on this ancient art and be proud that I finished the hike. Thanks Connie and Jeanne for leading and sweeping our group.

Always fun when I am not 100% sure about a trail! Thanks for being good sports about it. Beautiful day in the desert!!

    Will we need snowshoes?

    • Connie W

We shouldn't. The northern desert doesn't get the snow that the southern gets. Bring traction devices if you have them (yaktrax, etc). We probably won't need anything.

It's best to let someone take my place. I have a foot issue and better not push it. Next time. Have fun everyone !
