This is a Sierra Club outing, for more information on our hikes visit: http://nevada.sierraclub.org/gbgroup This hike is around 8 miles and has 800-1,000 feet of elevation gain, but a very steep descent of 1,000 feet that drops down the face of Mt. Davidson into Virginia City. You will need to bring plenty of water, lunch, clothing suited for the ridge line which is exposed, but offers great vistas, and boots for the rocky soil on the downhill slope. Absolutely, no tennis type shoes! I recommend poles, if you have them. We will set up a car shuttle on Geiger Grade to take us from Virginia City back to our starting point. Plan on taking a break in historic V.C. before we head back to the cars. Dogs are limited because of the car shuttle and must have leash in V.C. If there is bad weather, I will post a cancellation for the trip the evening before.
Waiver to be signed and $1 donation is appreciated to support our Outings program. We hope you will consider a membership to Sierra Club, one of the leading environmental groups for protection, preservation, and enjoyment of our wild lands.
