This is not a Sierra Club event, but it's a great promotion of our river and all proceeds go to a great local conservation organization - the North Florida Land Trust.
The "race" can be serious or just a fun paddle. Come whether you kayak or not to enjoy the festivities!
Join fellow paddlers for the 2nd annual paddling race and eco-festival in the heart of beautiful Downtown Jacksonville on the St. Johns River, April 27, 2013.
Be a part of the fun by entering the 3-mile or 8-mile race around Exchange Island (under the Mathews Bridge).
Paddlers should arrive to register at 9am. Registration will close at 10am and the race will begin at 11am sharp with a staggered shot gun start. The race is followed immediately by the awards ceremony and an awesome festival featuring food trucks, beer from SweetWater Brewery, a slew of local and regional non-profit organizations, a KidZone, Outdoors Expo, and music from some awesome national musical talent on our outdoor stage!
Bring the whole family!
The day will also include kayak fishing demonstrations, SUP and kayak paddling clinics, kayak and SUP tours, ACA kayak and SUP instruction courses, yoga workshops, bike and skate demonstrations and an opportunity to learn how many organizations help protect one of Jacksonville's most precious natural resources, The St. John's River.
Proceeds from the event will go to benefit the North Florida Land Trust, who has been conserving lands adjacent to our rivers and streams right here in North Florida for over 13 years. These funds will support their regional plan for watershed conservation and help to protect our water supply.
