NAFTA-On-Steroids!

Replacing "Free Trade" with "Responsible Trade"

The Sierra Club promotes responsible trade as an alternative to stale "free trade" policies of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) and the World Trade Organization (WTO). Join us to learn about the Trans-Pacific agreement and how you can help change the trajectory of U.S. trade policy to help create a greener and more just future.

The largest "free trade" agreement ever negotiated sits on the horizon. The Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP), which would include at least 12 countries around the Pacific Rim, is much more than a "trade" pact.

Citizen's United for multinational corporations! The trade pact would elevate multinational corporations to the level of nation states, allowing them to directly challenge federal, state and local environmental and worker protections in offshore courts.

Intensified fracking activity around the U.S.! The trade pact would dramatically increase exports of U.S. natural gas, paving the way to more fracking across the U.S., higher greenhouse gas emissions, and higher natural gas prices for U.S. consumers and manufacturers.

Environmentalists and workers groups are locked out! Despite the fact that this pact would impact nearly every aspect of our economy and the environment, it has been conducted in near complete secrecy. Environmentalists, workers advocates and even Congress are prevented from meaningful participation, while 800 corporate advisors craft an agreement to meet their agenda.
