Pisang Peak, Nepal - Guided but very difficult
FOR THIS OUTING, TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE. YOU MUST MOVE QUICKLY TO MAKE IT HAPPEN! This outing will join a commercial trek/climb of the Annapurna Circuit and Pisang Peak. The participants will be able to climb a 6,000 meter peak in Nepal, at a reduced cost and a customizable (reduced) time commitment. Almost all expeditions to Nepal's "trekking peaks" involve somewhere around 20-25 days and expeditions prices begin at about $2,500, exclusive of airfare to and from KTM. I have located a combined trek/climb that runs for 17 days - but the post climb portion of that time frame can be eliminated and, therefore, the entire trip, including airline travel, can be reduced to about 2.5 weeks. Costs will be adjusted (reduced) by the expedition company for reduced days of trekking. EXPEDITION COMPANY: Nepal Alternative Treks-Expeditions Pvt Ltd. Travel Advisors gives this company a 5 star rating: PISANG PEAK: Please note that the expedition company rates this climb as "hard." This is a moderate technical (snow) climb. Ropes may be fixed for the steepest sections. There are additional hurdles of altitude (acclimatization) and weather. Participants will need to be in top physical condition. R.T. AIRFARE FROM LAX: Maybe as low as $600. Do your own research. IMMUNIZATIONS: You should consult with a travel clinic for definitive information on the required and advised immunizations. TREK AND CLIMB STYLE: Ten days in lodges (guest houses/tea houses) and five nights in tents. Fully supported with cook, kitchen and 3 meals a day. Of course if participant foregoes trekking after the climb, nights in lodges will change and cost will be adjusted. PORTERS: Each participant will have 1/2 porter to carry approx 8 to 10 kg of the climber's gear. REST, ACCLIMATIZATION AND WEATHER: A full day is scheduled at Base Camp and another full day is scheduled at High Camp. COST: $1,515/participant for party of 4 or 5. Two presently confirmed. An additional $70 over published cost of $1,445 for the additional day of acclimatization. FINANCIAL RISKS: When placing deposits with foreign companies for goods or services to be provided in the (near) future, there is risk of loss.
