  1. Reminder about pre-registration for "Car- and Ride-share Startups Lightning Talks and Panel"

Greetings, SVAOS members.    Please pre-register by noon tomorrow (Friday August 3) at

    http://www.meetup.com/Silicon-Valley-Automotive-Open-Source/events/72690322/

if you are planning to attend the next meetup on next Monday night, August 6.   This meeting will be held at a NEW LOCATION in Fremont in the Warm Springs district, near the intersection of Warren and Mission Boulevards with Interstate 880.   This time Mentor Graphics' Embedded Software Division will be our venue host and also underwrite refreshments.   Directions to the venue are here:

As usual, we will serve Subway sandwiches, chips, fruit and drinks starting at about 6:30.   At about 7 PM, four founders/employees of local startups (Jesse Biroscak, JustShareIt; Charlz Caldwell, ZigZagBy; Ezra Goldman; Warren Jackson, HP Labs, on casual-carpooling Android app) involved in the hot ride- and car-sharing sector will give brief presentations about their technologies and business models.    At the conclusion of the presentations, we will hear a panel discussion moderated by Jack Gavigan, a European angel investor who also works in the Bay Area.  Please come with your questions about technologies that enable ride- and car-sharing and about web-based automotive software opportunities.

  2. September meetup:

"Technical and Commercial challenges of V2V and V2I networks" presented by Ravi Puvvala of Savari Networks.    The extension of WiFi communications to ad hoc vehicle-to-vehicle mesh network is a rapid area of technological innovation.   Note that the September meetup will also be held at the Fremont location.
