Mountain View, CA
-- Our event next week on "Reducing Time To Market Through Modular Car
Design" is full.    Please cancel your registration if you know you
cannot attend so that someone from the waiting list gets in.

http://www.meetup.com...

The schedule is the usual one: refreshments for pre-registrants at
about 6:30, announcements (by anyone) at more or less 7 PM,
speaker presentation shortly afterward.  Please take photos and
upload them to the wiki.   I always post slides if speakers
provide them.   There will be no video.

-- The June event "Black Box Data Recorders in Cars" presented by
Electronic Frontier Foundation attorney Nate Cardozo

http://www.meetup.com...

still has space available.

-- The July 24 fundraiser "San Jose State Students Build Formula-1
Style Racecars" for San Jose State University has plenty of
space.   Due to the generous ongoing sponsorship of ICS, 100% of
proceeds will benefit the student team.    The event will feature a
tour of the Formula SAE lab and a brief lecture by students.
SVAOS has never charged for a meetup before, but while "information
wants to be free" in Silicon Valley, hands-on engineering education
is still expensive, so please be generous!

-- On Thursday September 26 at Hacker Dojo in Mountain View,
Prof. Balaji Prabhakar of Stanford will speak about Stanford's
"gamification" automotive incentive program for employees:

https://www.nytimes.c...

"with a $3 million research grant from the federal Department of
Transportation, Stanford deployed a new system designed by
Dr. Prabhakar’s group. Called Capri, for Congestion and Parking
Relief Incentives, it allows people driving to the notoriously
traffic-clogged campus to enter a daily lottery, with a chance to
win up to an extra $50 in their paycheck . . ."

-- On May 23, German-American Business Association will host a meeting
in Palo Alto on "Automotive Apps: Innovation, Opportunities and Challenges":

The last event Thilo Koslowski of GABA organized was excellent and
worth every penny.

-- On June 6-7, the Silicon Valley Leadership Group will host a "Silicon
Valley Driving Charged & Connected" all-day meeting at SAP in Palo Alto:

http://svlg.org/polic...

"Join us at SAP on June 6, 2013 for need to know information for
city staff, fleet managers, policy-makers and regulators,
commercial and residential landlords and developers – anyone who
wants to harness the newest technologies enabling sustainable
transportation. Can’t get enough on just one day? Day two, June 7,
2013, includes a Feature Conversation presented in partnership with
the Governor’s Office and more for electric vehicle and
transportation industry insiders."

-- All these events are featured on SVAOS' webcal

Also, don't forget our Discussion Forum at

to which any member can post.  Thanks to group co-organizer Robert
Seidl for posting coverage and video from recent hackathons there,
as well as at his Transportation Technology Ventures blog:

Apparently any member can also email announcements to this mailing list.
