kick off sub-group for education on computing biology

Hi, All, I am co-organizing a sub-group for my fellow laymen to study this exciting field together. I believe one should understand the big picture of a new field before diving into specific topics, so I read about computing biology on wiki first: Computational biology involves the development and application of data-analytical and theoretical methods, mathematical modeling and computational simulation techniques to the study of biological, behavioral, and social systems. This is a good start, and I think the topics discussed on yesterday (Tuesday) meeting focused on biological systems, maybe someone can pop up with a specific topic on behavioral and social systems?

Thanks to Todd, we have an online textbook to start with:

Also I learned from wiki that there are three sub fields: Computational biomodeling, Computational genomics and Computational neuroscience.

Any of you guru in computing biology, if you have any suggestion about a textbook in general or in one of these sub fields, or a review paper, or a learning center, or a online course, please let us know! Thanks in advance!

May you all have a happy halloween!
