@The Dancing Cat - Origami: Paws on Paper Holiday Edition
The Dancing Cat is a charity dedicated to cat rescue and welfare in San Jose. The Dancing Cat's adoption lounge, in downtown San Jose on Julian St is a great place to meet adoptable adult cats in a comfortable, relaxed environment - its also an intimate, living-room like venue for great classes, performances, and events! Please visit to register: It's the holiday season and time to deck the halls with bells, baubles, and bows. This year, try something a little different - Origami! With Denise Wang, of the South Bay Origami Group, learn origami, the ancient paper folding art which has long roots in both Japan and China. In the spirit of the season, put paws to paper with relaxed focus, gentle critical thinking, hand-eye coordination, and creative expression to create paper sculpture decorations - lovely for trimming the tree, and pet safe too! Origami is an art form for everyone – peaceful, portable, upcycle-able, and perfect for making paper cats and decorations! During this workshop, folders will be led through the basics of origami, and into a few winter-inspired sculptures for you to show off at home. This workshop is intended for folders 12-years old and up, and artists of all skill levels (from beginner, to more experienced) are welcome. You are welcome to bring a beverage or snack of your liking, or buy something from (and support) The Dancing Cat. Class fee: $30 per person Wifi, catnip, and kitty-critiques are on the house. Only 10 spots available, so sign up soon! About Denise: Denise used to fold traditional Origami models as a kid. In recent years, a series of incidental encounters re-connected her with this childhood hobby, and opened her eyes to the fascinating world of modern day Origami and the multitude of intricate techniques involved in paper folding. Since this reconnection, Origami has become a channel for her creativity, acts as a form of meditation, and become an unexpected platform for learning. Currently, Denise continues her Origami journey while teaching this incredibly fun art form to others. Remember; your RSVP on MeetUp is great! It lets others know that your going to a great event! However, spaces can only be held once they are booked through The Dancing Cat website.

What we're about

Anyone who is looking for a group that does random sh!t, whether it be a coffee run, hiking, dancing to the 80's, or lectures on machine learning. This group aims to provide a place to find stuff to do that is good pickings from other groups so as to diversify activities.

This group is intended to help people get outside of their comfort zone so that they can grow. It is hoped that members will take the opportunity to become hosts for activities that they would like to engage in and have others join in on the fun.

NOTE: Make sure to keep an eye on the discussion thread as this is where many links to events others have made, this is where you will find most of the Random Sh!t.
