Social Media Community Management 101 w/ Crystal Coleman

Almost every startup counts a Community Manager among its early hires, but what exactly does being a community manager entail? Does community fall under marketing or support? Community Management isn't exactly a new field, but it's an often misunderstood one.

This presentation will give you an overview of Community Management 101 answering the questions:

• What exactly is community?

• Where and how do I build this community?

• How do I manage/interact with the community?

• Where can I go from there?

After the presentation, we'll have a guided brainstorming session so that you can plan your very own awesome community.

Crystal led us through our own goal setting process for growing an online community. Build and encourage for long-term engagement without being predominantly sales-y. Learned the #1 rule: nurture the alpha 10, your first 10 and very important community members. Thanks Crystal for a wealth of information!

Thanks for sharing. If anyone took notes, I would appreciate if I could have a copy. I have been sick most of the week and didn't feel up to coming.

If you're involved with social media, you're involved with community building. Looking forward to learning more about managing social community.
