This meetup is open to attendees of all experience levels. Tentative Schedule: 6:30 Doors Open (Networking) 7:00 Introduction 7:15 Jenna Goldberg, IBM 7:45 Speaker 2 8:15 Speaker 3 8:45 Wrap Up About Jenna Goldberg Jenna Goldberg is an Augmented Reality Software Designer at IBM based in Silicon Valley. She works on the Immersive Insights team creating a program that allows users to explore substantial amounts of data in 3D. Jenna recently graduated from the University of Texas at Austin where she studied Math and Digital Arts & Media. After a considerable amount of trial and error, she discovered her passion for 3D design and animation, which lead her to landing her dream job at IBM. Jenna mainly focuses on creating 3D features for Immersive Insights that are both innovative and intuitive. Abstract IBM Immersive Insights is an AR tool that allows data scientists to engage with their data and present their findings like never before. Immersive Insights allows data scientists to collaborate and analyze their data with the advantages of AR technology. This tool has great implications for data analysis across industries like business and tech, while uncovering the power of AR as a new technology. Part of the design challenge with creating an AR tool is that this technology is so new, and designers face the challenge of understanding how to transition from the usual scope of 2D design. This talk will cover the design process and challenge that the designers of IBM Immersive Insights face on this exciting new project. • What to bring • Important to know To attend this event, please RSVP on Eventbrite: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/designer-panel-next-generation-ui-tickets-43268336760

  • An Evening with Eye Tracking: Concepts and Applications
Did they look over there? Did this element demand too much attention? Did they see what we thought they’d see? Too often we have to lean on our assumptions when our users aren't accessible to us. Eye tracking can provide us with answers! Tobii Pro will show us the future of eye tracking in physical and digital spaces. Learn by doing. Become the participant and the researcher, to test out this technology and determine how to effectively work it into your toolkit. Tobii Pro's Keith Bartels will walk us through the history of eye tracking and how the technology works. He'll then introduce the hardware, its new capabilities, guide us through several exercises designed to help us learn the technology from multiple perspectives, and show us how we can glean insights from the results. Sylvia Knust, a fellow UX researcher, will help Keith frame the technology use cases. Agenda: 6:00 - 6:30 pm Networking/Socializing 6:30 - 7:15 pm Presentation 7:15 - 7:30 pm Q&A 7:30 - 8:30 pm Test Out the Devices/Wearable & Network/Socialize
