Screening of "Apartment Zero"

Our May movie has been changed.

It will now be "Apartment Zero"

British/Argentinian 1988

Directed by Martin Donovan (br. Argentina, worked in England and now lives in Encino).  He wrote the screenplay for "Death Becomes Her"(1992) with Meryl Streep and Goldie Hawn.

"Apartment Zero" stars a very young and sexy Colin Firth.  Set in a seedy section of 1980s Buenos Aires, the movie follows the relationship between two emotionally crippled young men.  Adrian LeDuc (Firth) is a lonely gay man who runs a revival movie theater.  As ticket sales decline, he decides to rent a part of the house he shares with his mother, a women with severe mental problems.  The new roommate seems normal but appears to be hiding something.  As an intense connection develops between the two men, Adrian has to suppress his suspicions that the roommate may be the serial killer who's been terrorizing the city.  The other eccentric residents in Adrian's bldg worry that he's beginning to show signs of his mother's insanity.  There's a shocking climax to this twisted tale of deceit, perversion and murder.  Come see it on May 19.

I couldn't find a trailer to this movie but here's a montage of stills that will give you the general idea.

Although I have thousands of other extraordinarily important commitments on this day, I will attend, the Nobel prize people will simply have to wait. Bill, you talked about changing the movie choice, but I was nervous you were only bowing to public pressure. If you really believe in your design sometimes you just have to tell Nina Garcia to shove it up her ass and say "I want Latter Days, bitch!"

Sorry Bill, I have a scheduling conflict. I have seen this movie - it is cute, especially for twinks lovers and those into struggle between religion and being gay. Enjoy!

Hey Bill.....I hate to miss this one. I go on this Santa Barbara home tour thing every year.......and this year it's May 19th. We already have our tickets. I know we usually get back after dark......but if by chance we get back early enough for me to make it down to your place by 7 p.m........I'll call you and come zooming down!!! But, I doubt it.
