Had a great turn-out for discussions on what kind of Halloween event to have for the children. Thanks to everyone for participation and ideas. A carnival with booths for games, pumpkin painting (instead of carving) face painting for the children, caricature drawings, a photo booth and the "trunk or treat" for goodies. We are still looking into a jumping house and some other activities. A collection was taken to help pay for the prizes, but everyone who attends is responsible for the treats they will have in their "trunks". Please have enough for 60-70 children. The treats can be candy, popcorn balls, apples or other fruit, school supplies, or anything you would normally give out to "trick or treaters". There will be music and a movie, indoors this time, in case the weather is bad.
The dinner for the children will be Mexican. We plan to keep it simple, mostly finger foods like tacos, nachos, etc.
Okay everyone...If you missed the planning meeting this past Sunday or if you couldn't stay till the end, here is an update. We discussed meeting in town and everyone driving together, but it was decided just to meet at St. Jude's at 1:30. That will give us one hour to get everything set up, as the children will be joining us at 2:30. Heidi will meet with Veronica to deliver the costumes for the children early in the week. Veronica will be responsible for making sure costumes get to the children. We decided the pumpkin face painting would be first, followed by games, then food. After they have eaten we will have the "Trunk or Treat", followed by a movie and/or karaoke singing. Heidi, Becky or anyone, if I have left anything out please post. Don't forget to come dressed in an "appropriate" costume for a children's party!!! See you all Saturday for another great time with the kids.
