Many people, including many healthcare professionals, tend to associate PEOLC with dying and death. While it is certainly true that many users of PEOLC are indeed terminally ill or dying patients, we would have badly missed the point if we mistakenly believe that such care is about dying and death.
Indeed, the true purpose of such care is about LIVING, not dying.
This talk will therefore discuss what PEOLC should be about, and how they can benefit patients and their families.
It will also address the challenges in accessing and accepting such care, as well as highlight the dangers that we may face both as individuals and as a community if we turn our backs on the experience of dying and death, and forsake the proper purpose of caring for the dying.
