Winter Beer Tasting at Ken's House

  • Nov 30, 2011 · 7:00 PM
  • Ken Simmons' House

Just wanted to send out one more note on this event, as we don't have many people signed up. I went to Bottleworks last night and, in a deal with a coworker involving changing desks, I went nuts on the winter beers. So it's worth your while to swing by Ken's place, even if just for a half hour (and don't worry about being late--I myself have a conflict and won't be there til 8 or so).

Hope to see some of you, especially newbies! Haven't seen many of those lately. Come support your group--cause it's all about you :-P

----------------------------------------

It's the holidays, which means everyone needs to save money for Xmas presents, but also wants to get out and celebrate. It's also a time in which a whole host of delicious winter beers are released. To combine all three, Ken Simmons has graciously agreed to host a Winter Beer Tasting at his house in the Ballard/Whittier area. A sixer or couple 22-ouncers of winter beer gets you in the door. Snacks are also welcome (we'll have some). We'll do some kind of formal tasting and vote on the best winter beers, which will be announced to the media so they can duly report our results. :-)

Hope to see all of you there. Hoppy Holidays!

    All,

Thanks for coming out. I am tardy with this picture. In addition to the 22s that Drew took for home brewing this is the inventory of the empties at my house: Dubhe Imperial Black IPA (Uinta Brewing), Wee Heavy Winter Ale (Hales), Jolly Roger Christmas Ale (Maritime Pacific), Celbration Ale (Sierra Nevada), Snow Pass Winter Ale (New Belgium), Winter Solstice (Anderson Valley), Jubleale (Descutes), Merry Christmas beer (Anchor Steam) and 10 degrees below (Scuttlebutt)

Great group of people that know a lot about beer. Lots of good winter beer to be had.

I am now a "maybe" - sorry about that. I have an annoying computer virus that a friend of mine is helping me with, and I need to stay and take advantage of his help while I can. If we finish up soon, I will try to make it.

I'll allow it this time, Drew, since it's your first meeting. But only if they're cool and they bring beer :-)

I am interested in coming. I live just down the street. Is it cool if I brign a fellow (non-single) beer lover?

That date works for me. I have 300 beer glasses lying around my house, so I could bring a few as well. If people want, when they RSVP yes they can mention what they are thinking of bringing so we don't duplicate too much. Thanks for volunteering to host, Ken!

50/50 chance I could make it on the 30th.

I can host. Not a big place but enough for the typical crowd and a pretty empty fridge since I'm a bachelor after all. I'm in the Ballard-Phinney Ridge area. [masked]th Ave NW. I do have enough beer glasses to go around as well. Next Wednesday the 30th?
