Hi Exceptional Parents,

Thank you for your interest in joining the group. My name is Tiffany, and I'm the parent of an awesome 9-year old son with high-functioning autism. He's my world -- and there's nothing I wouldn't do for him. As exceptional parents of special needs kids, I'm sure you also feel the same about your children.

But let's face it - special needs parenting is HARD. And for single parents, it's especially hard. I know firsthand that managing my child's team of therapists, communicating continuously with his school, staying on top of insurance claims and ensuring that I carry over my son's treatment plans in his day-to-day life is…well, another job -- on top of my day job. I'm sure you can relate to the endless juggling act.

As a soon-to-be divorcee, I suddenly feel isolated among my friends, who are mostly married.  So, I thought I’d start this group to connect with other parents, of school-age special needs kids, who want to:

·  Establish lasting friendships and a support system with other singles who truly understand their situation

·  Go out—without the kids

·  Discuss and explore interests, beyond just special needs parenting.

·  Find balance in their lives

·  Share resources

·  Support each other

· Do activities/classes to care for ourselves – hiking, yoga, meditation, personal development workshops

·  Enjoy the dating scene

Let’s give back to ourselves to be the best parents we can possibly be. Looking forward to meeting you all, and thanks again for your interest.
