2A Hike, Hayward Regional Shoreline

  • 7 mi, level. 

    This is a flat levee walk allowing us to experience a part of one of the largest marsh restoration projects on the West coast. It consists of 400 acres of salt, brackish and fresh water marshes. Meet at the Hayward Shoreline Interpretive Center. Heavy rain cancels. 

    Directions: From the East Bay take I-880 to CA-92 west bound. Take the Clawiter exit ramp, continue straight across Clawiter to a left on Breakwater Ave. From the Peninsula take CA-92 East (San Mateo Bridge) to first East Bay exit (Clawiter/Eden Landing) turn left & head north over the freeway to a left on Breakwater Ave. Follow Breakwater to the Interpretive Center at the end of the road.
