Please join me for a serene, historic, and admittedly female-centric (Men, you are invited!) Meetup. We will view the new exhibition at the Folger Shakespeare Library: Shakespeare's Sisters.
This revelatory show brings together the works of more than fifty 16th and 17th century women writers from England and continental Europe, writing in formats that range from poems, prose fiction, and memoirs to translations, plays, and more. Shakespeare’s Sisters takes its title from a famous passage in Virginia Woolf’s book A Room of One’s Own (1929), in which Woolf imagines a gifted sister of William Shakespeare, completely thwarted by social restrictions.
Location of the After Party will be announced.
Closest Metros: Capitol South (Orange & Blue Lines) and Union Station (Red Line)
Street parking on Sunday in DC is free.
