What we're about

New Haven has much to offer. It is home to several world class museums, a Gutenberg Bible, 116 Picassos, dinosaur skeletons. Future Oscar winners learn their craft here. Some of the oldest ethnic restaurants in the country are here. The hamburger was invented here and of course we have Apizza. We have a rich and fascinating history. The list of interesting and fun things to experience here goes on and on.

This goal of this group is to explore and experience this great city - and not do it alone.

Some notes -

This is a social group for singles. It is not for finding the love of your life, a quick hook-up or anything in between. It's about doing things that we might not do because we're single.

ALL are welcome. One of the great things about New Haven is its diversity, acceptance and tolerance. All ages, genders and gender presentations, disabilities, ethnicities, languages, religions, the full LGBTQS spectrum, ALL, are welcome. (if you have a need related to a disability or have a problem at a specific venue or event, please let me know,)

Escape New Haven (Times are tentative - see description)

103 Whitney Ave

$26.00

I want to give everyone a chance to attend and play all the games. The space is in the basement and there are stairs (no elevator). Space is limited and too many people ruin the games so the details depend on how many people will be attending. 27 is the maximum. 4 is the minimum. I'm scheduling five dates for this. Times are a little tentative. Please RSVP early. If you can't make the scheduled time (but can make it a half hour later or something like that) send me a message. https://escapenewhaven.com/

Cherry Blossom Festival (Hula Hoops Optional)

Wooster Square

Hanami is an ancient Japanese tradition of gathering for a picnic and enjoying the transient beauty of flowers. In 1973, 72 Japanese Cherry trees were planted in Wooster Square (pronounced "woosta") in New Haven's Little Italy (pronounced "lil illy") and one of our unique multi-cultural adaptations, The Cherry Blossom Festival, was born. There will be puppets, salsa and swing dancing, face-painting, all kinds of food and lots of silly fun. It is an important event for our pet rescue, shelter and adoption agencies so it is also an opportunity for us to help those who help the four-pawed members of our community. Just to make it a little more fun, I thought that I'd look like an idiot...but I'm not going to look like an idiot all by myself, so you are invited to beg, borrow or steal a hula-hoop and look like an idiot with me.

The New Haven Food Truck Festival & Dragon Boat Races

351 Long Wharf Dr

New Haven all but lost its waterfront when I-95 was built and struggled for a very long time with what to do with Long Wharf, the very narrow strip of shoreline that was left. It is home to a small wildlife sanctuary and two important monuments, a memorial to our Vietnam Veterans and the home port of Connecticut's Flagship, a replica of the schooner La Amistad. We solved the problem the same way we solve most problems, by making it an excuse to eat. Long Wharf is now home to Food Truck Paradise and an annual Food Truck Festival. Details are coming as they become available - https://streetfoodnhv.com/ This year's festival will feature a dragon boat race. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T8JnLlZU0ok
