Abstract: The last decade of research into the brain confirms that it can grow new neurons and repair itself if given the right stimuli. What does the latest research say about lifestyle factors that can slow down or reverse age-related decline? This talk will look at the effects of 3 practices that have been clinically shown to encourage neuronal growth and improve mental health: physical exercise, concentrated learning, and meditation. We will explore what the evidence suggests works and doesn't work for each of these.
The goal of the talk will be to inform into action. While knowing is half the battle, a discussion of different implementation approaches will close the talk and hopefully result in bigger brains by the next meetup.
