The monthly meeting of the Skeptics of Tucson are held on the second Monday of the Month at the Denny's on Speedway, near Alvernon at 7PM. Many show up early for dinner and conversation prior to the official meeting.
We've been meeting and discussing general topics about Skepticism for years and I think that is a good thing. However, there are those that don't believe that organized Skepticism is worth the effort. They're not excited by Myth Busters that specialize in blowing things up in order to promote Skepticism. They think that national conventions are a waste of time and money and do nothing to help.
A discussion on this topic might prove personally helpful as I decide whether to go the The Amazing Meeting this July in Las Vegas. Our meetup group and our meetings are also a part of the modern Skeptical movement. What do you expect out of a meeting about Skepticism? Are our meetings beneficial in any way? Has meeting with other Skeptics been motivating? Have you been surprised by anything covered at a Skeptics of Tucson meetup? What are the importance of national conventions, television programs like BS and Myth Busters, local meetup groups, blogs, and podcasts?
See you there!
