Winner Creek Packraft

Not sure the best place to put-in, but a kayak/packraft meetup would be fun as the weather warms, and the creeks start running higher. If the date isn't good, let me know what works best. I think the guest parking at Alyeska would be a good place  to meet since it is close enough to the trail. If it is just us, we could also drive together and meet in Anchorage?

Sans the one paddle lost, the float was great and the weather was perfect. Look forward to more float trips with any of you all!!!

I am picking up a friend in ANC at 9:30am and heading for the lower bridge takeout. Physical address? It's a park by the fire station and it's the only spot in Gird you can easily take out from Glacier Creek. Have you done this trip before?

It makes more sense to meet at the take-out because that's where we will want the cars when it's over.

I am not going to make it. I am scouting for the adventure race next week.

I'll be leaving Anchorage by 1030 Seth. If you are driving we could car pool. Changing the meeting location would be fine. I just need a physical address. As far as I know Darren is still attending, but with meetup you can never tell sometimes.

Winner Creek and Glacier Creek converge so it should be some great paddling. I'm not sure if all of Winner is passable due to slot waterfalls but it's worth a shot.

I'm not sure how I got two profiles... but one of me will be there! I've done Glacier from the gorge hand-tram to the highway a couple times and it's a hoot. Please call my # is 360-9128. I suggest we meet at the takeout and set shuttle from there.

I went on Thursday night...There is one in the canyon that you have to get out for. The river is WAY up and it is a FUN ride right now. The lower canyon has less wood than last fall after the flood. There is still a lot of snow in there, plan on hiking in snow for at least another week or 2. There was one other spot with a significant strainer that needs respect. My partner flipped over after hitting a boulder hidden by the water followed by a nice hole. Anyway, it is time to paddle!!!!!!

I'm going to check out the creek this weekend to look for hazards like logjams. I'll be sure to geo-tag them to know ahead for any portages. I recently had a baptism this last weekend on Resurrection Creek from a log-jam.
