As of now, A-Basin is scheduled to close on June 22nd, but as we all know they have been getting a lot more snow then anticipated for the Spring skiing season. They may be open til July again, who knows? Either way at A-Basin closing day, as it gets warmer the snow melt allows for ponds to develop and therefore the highly recommended but sometimes dangerous pond skimming is born. I look forward just to watching the events of this costume and not so much attire being worn as people race down the mountain to see if they have enough speed to get across the pond with out sinking, diving, face-planting, or flipping/tripping into the freezing ice cold water. If you dare, as I did last year, try it yourself. There's nothing like water skiing and snow skiing on the same day in sunny Colorado mountains. And not to mention the rest of the fun on the beach and snow ball fights at the lifts, which of course are not allowed (ski patrol has threatened to take away passes for this).
