  • If you can do a leeds Meetup walk and are OK with the cold you can snowshoe. We have training walks and talks (for kit you need and safety) for you before this holiday, so practice and get fit ready for this great week in Bansko. Whilst you are on the trip you can eat loads of great food and still lose weight, get to know like minded people all while having fun. We do meat and vegetarian and some fish, but doing run to Vegan, I’ll do my best with food allergies but talk to me first before you book.
SO what is this about, its doing something different in a place you may never have though of visiting.
All you need to do is book your flight from Manchester with easyjet on the 28th of Jan and a return flight on the 4th Feb. prices were around a £100 return on 25th Oct when I looked, the sooner you book the cheaper the fight will be. Alternatively get to Sofia before midday from another airport and we can pick you up at sofia airport or even a hotel close by if you came the day before. If we do a book group of 10 we get a bit of a discount too.
The rest I organise......... airport pickup, transport, food and accommodation and our routes, I’ll even book snow shoes for you if you haven’t bought your own before hand. If you like cooking or dont mind making sandwiches I welcome the help. In the Winter I am running a Chalet/apartments for my Summer Trekking company, Pirin Adventures and was asked about snow shoeing in Bansko by people in my walking club, as they know i run a summer Trekking company there in the summer and do a lot of winter sports.
We stay in Disalitza with most of the accommodation on the group floor, where we have a lovely fire in the evening to relax and sit round and chat about the days snowshoeing and other activities. You can even wander into the lovely garden and star gaze with a nice glass of wine in your hand…. It’s a lovely place to be. We have use of a sauna and steam room and gym down stairs and its lovely and quite here, not too many people and a family atmosphere. You might also decide to have a day skiing. Entirely up to you.
We have a day off mid week to relax, go to the hot mineral pools in Banya, 15 minutes drive away, or go ice skating in Bansko. Remember its not just about snow shoeing, you most likely will need a rest day.
    Itinerary:-
Our first day (Sat) will be arriving from Sofia airport and a drive to Bansko and a quick tour round Bansko to get our bearings, an afternoon cake and hot drinks and a chat about the coming week, followed by our evening meal round the table and a relax by the fire before turning in to get some sleep for the next day.

Day 2 (Sunday) Not too early a start as you may find the time zone effects you ....We have a great breakfast before we go out for the day, we will be getting our snow legs and doing a fairly easy walk, maybe a bit of snow shoeing instruction for those who have never done it before or missed practice in the UK pre the holiday or we didn’t get any snow to practise on in the UK .
Day 3 (Monday) Early start, hearty breakfast then out for a trek in the mountains. We are looking at about 6-7 hours out in the snow, with a quick stop in a hut if we are close to one. The distance and severity depends on what we have decided before hand……. But on average we are looking at 5-10 miles a day with[masked] height gain plus same again loss. We can always get the gondola down if you are feeling tired and don’t want to walk down or we maybe able to get a lift down on the bus  orget a car pickup. Then relax in the Sauna, before drinks and dinner and the off to bed for a well earned sleep.
Day 4 (Tuesday) Early start, hearty breakfast Don’t forget your sandwiches, then out for the trek in the mountains. Same distance as the day before, back down for a steam followed by dinner and bed.
Day 5 (wed) Rest day, so late breakfast, then its your choice, options are mineral pools, wander around Bansko, ice skating, just chilling sitting in a café we can decide what we are doing. Then out to a lovely restaurant for traditional food and maybe some music and singing and dancing.
Day 6 (Thursday) Early start, hearty breakfast then out for a trek………. Possibly something a bit more adventurous, we could opt for an overnight stay in a hut, or opt for an easy day as you might have had a bit too much to drink the night before…….we can decide as a group prior to coming out what it is you really want to do.
Day 7 (Friday) If we did the overnight stay then Day 7 will be a continuation of this adventure. Alternatively it will be a long day out on the hill bagging some amazing peaks and getting our last day snow shoeing before we think about packing and going back. A final sauna and our last evening meal together on this holiday
Day 8(Sat) Breakfast at7am, leave by 8am ready for our flight at midday (we have to arrive at least 1 hour before departure and the journey is anything for 2 hrs to 2:30 depending on traffic). Sad farewells till next time we meet 

Over the next few months I will get your fitness levels up and work out a schedule of routes for us. We will have kit discussions and I will organise a discount evening at GO outdoors in Pudsey where I get group credit off equipment and clothing.
I actually run a summer trekking company in Bansko called Pirin Adventures, but I let out my Apartments in Winter as well as run them as a chalet. I love snow shoeing and skiing, so i though lets combine a holiday for those who fancy this at a good price.
The cost for the holiday will be no more than £360 PPPW without the flight
    YOUR SEPARATE COSTS
So flight will cost about £100 return if you book quickly (this is your responsibility)
Snow shoes hire is about 20 leva a day (£7), but if we book for the week I’ll get Georgi to get us a discount. Gondola rides if needed roughly about £10 for the day, but need to check as winter prices not up yet. Again your cost
    The £360 pppw covers
This includes all your Bansko accommodation all our food except our night out on Wednesday, which you will pay for yourself. (a dinner out cost 20-30 levs so at present about £10 to £15 each and I’m talking about a three course meal with average alcohol). Wednesday is a variable day so you need to pay for this, Banya mineral pool is about 10 levs(£4) and you can be there as long as you like, ice skating a little bit more , but I’m not 100% of the cost till I get back to Bansko in December. All transport is covered, from Sofia airport for the rest of week till I drop you back off.
Accommodation is variable rooms, so 2-4 in a room, some are bunks and one double  SO first come first choice  Charlie my dog will be with us on all snow shoeing activities and he is fast so watch out 
Any questions email me. Feel free to come on the pre prep training walks and talks, even if you decide not to come on the holiday.
