What we're about
Traditional Scottish, Irish and English Folk Music sessions at a slower pace. Ideal for beginner and intermediate players, but everyone wanting to play welcome!
Sheet music allowed. Friendly and welcoming atmosphere and without an audience and therefore beginner-friendly. Sets are pre-set around a week before the session by the two leaders. Suggestions for future tunes are always welcome!
Since November 2021 we have a new location which is bigger than our previous beloved member hut at the City Road Allotment and therefore more Covid friendly (or better, unfriendly): Dickson Hall, St Margaret of Scotland Episcopal Church, 27A Queen St, Tayport DD6 9JZ (parking on-street). The hall is behind the Church, the entry is after the small passageway left of the church.
The event is free but we would be grateful for a £2 contribution to lightening and heating of the hall if you can.
There is tea and coffee and you could even bring your own bottle if you are in the mood :)
Sundays 5:00 - 7:00 PM once a month (usually the 3rd Sunday).
Please don't be put off by the low number of attendees here on the site: most participants of the Slow Sessions are not connected via Meetup but through an e-mail list and WhatsApp group. We usually have between 10 and 16 musicians coming together for each Slow Session.
