This Night Hike is exclusively for experienced intermediate Prairie Mountain hikers.

This means ...

  1. you have hiked up Prairie Mountain in the past six months and you are competent and capable with your hiking fitness level to be able to complete this event.

  2. you have Katoola Micro Spike, a good Headlamp with spare batteries, Whistle, Hiking Poles.

  3. you are willing to participate in the "BUDDY" System (minimum of two people) - no Lone Rangers. We all start up at 6:00 PM and we are ALL back at the vehicles at 8:30 PM

WHY all the rules ...

  1. WINTER: it can be very cold and a wind chill increases the possibility of exposure.

  2. DARK: a familiar trail looks very different at the end of a light beam and there is an increased risk of losing your way in the dark and becoming lost.

Be ready and be prepared. As much as I would like to take everyone at all levels I will limit these hikes to 12 qualified participants.
