There are those who say this trail is good for beginner snowshoers; so, if you can put one foot in front of the other and you can strap some snowshoes on, you should be good to go. Bottom line is you'll absolutely love it once you get out here after being so long in there (wherever there is).

Carpool Departure: 8:00 AM Shouldice Arena - RED Dodge Caravan Event Duration: 4 - 5 hours excluding driving Difficulty Rating: Beginner - Intermediate Distance: 10 km Elevation gain: 225 m Event Directions: Take Highway 1 west to Canmore. From Canmore, drive 39 km south on the Smith-Dorrien / Spray Trail (Highway 742 - gravel road) which begins just past the Canmore Nordic Centre. Turn right at the Mount Engadine Lodge turnoff, go 5 km. to the Mount Shark parking lot, where you will find the trailhead.

I have heard that this is "simply one of the best back-country hikes for photographers. You end up at a huge year-round spring sheltered by dense forest, with logs artfully draped across its rocky falls. The trees soften the light and make it a comfortable (and beautiful!) place year-round."

Who can attend: Members, no children, guests or dogs for this hike.This is suitable for beginners and your ability to maintain a steady moderate pace for the hike is essential.

Waivers: I will bring the group waiver form with me to the Calgary Meetup location and the trail-head. You must sign it before you will be allowed to go on this hike. You will also be asked to provide the name and phone number of an emergency contact.
Your Host may be slow, but he is steady; however, he is a volunteer and not a trained guide. All participants are responsible for assessing the current road, weather, trail and avalanche conditions for the trip; and, you are responsible for your safety and well-being. You are fully prepared with proper gear, food and water, personal First-aid and you're physically fit to do this hike with the group.
