Update Carpooling Etiquette -Required reading io

Meetup location is for the ease and convenience of the drivers and then passengers. If you request a pickup other than the meetup location please ask for pickup at a location convenient for your driver. We will lose drivers who are repeatedly asked to drive out of their way to pick you up or drop you off.

Drivers are not expected to make unplanned stops for passengers. If you're the driver you are free to decline any request. In fact we ask that you decline requests enroute to the trailhead. Passengers should have everything and not need to ask driver to stop.

Drivers should never be kept waiting. Be prepared.

When spring comes and you have muddy boots have car shoes and plastic bag for your boots. You may want to bring a towel to sit on should you get dirty.

Check with the driver before eating or drinking in their car.

Take everything of yours when leaving the car, don't leave anything behind.

When loading your gear check with the driver first, they may want it loaded in a certain way.

If you are going into Banff National Park be prepared to pay your equal share for the park pass.

Drivers are free to accept or not any passenger just let organizer know if you have prearranged rides.

If we don't have enough drivers at the meetup last passengers to arrive may not get a ride. So indicate if you can take a turn and drive.

Drivers on a wait list may jump others if drivers are needed. Organizers are free to ask for drivers and move them up the list.

Remember the only way events happen is with drivers. They provide a great service and deserve to be compensated not just for gas but wear and tear on their vehicle. As well at the end of a challenging day they have to be alert and focused to get you back home. They don't sit back and relax. It sometimes is stressful and exhausting. A little appreciation goes a long way. Chocolates work as well.

If you drive and end up with empty seats because of no shows or late cancelations please advise the organizer the next time you drive so we ensure your car is full. Passengers can offer more to help offset your costs but that's optional.

If you have a passenger that solicits a ride that is knowingly not at your convenience, please advise organizers so we can make sure they don't repeatedly do this to drivers.

We suggest a car fare and our drivers have the right to expect this amount. You know the amount so do your part by making the offer. Any intimidation by a passenger to accept a lower fare won't be tolerated.

Take your turn and drive. Ensure you car is in good operating condition. If winter travel we suggest in certain situations you have four wheel drive or winter tires. Good idea to have emergency kit.
