New! Z-NOS Campfire Communication: Startup Stories.

One-hour of enjoyment and learning. Poems, songs, stories and dreams.

Open discussion about startup. We get help as we give help to others by sharing our experience.

People in recovery help each other find good work fast. Good work pays good money, really helps customers, and provides opportunities to learn and grow.  (Have a good career but care about your local business community? Call about how we can help you start a new group like this to help those in recovery and why you should.)

Our new, free Z-NOS Groups use principles from 12-step recovery and Ignatian spirituality, combined with methods from the book Just Start, which is based on the latest business research.

Published recently by Harvard Business Review Press, Just Start confirms what IDEA Café Startup Workshops have taught since 1994.

Get real help from real people. We share startup experience, information, and ideas. Why do we call it Z-NOS? You'll find out when you attend.

Free, join us each week when you want help, when you aren't sure what you are going to do Monday morning, and also join us each week when you are will to help others, when what you have to share might help us and when you want to maximize the learning from your experience for yourself by sharing it.

No RSVP is required, walk-ins are welcome. But if you RSVP here we save a seat for you until 2:30 p.m. at the table so your guaranteed to have a seat if you come on time, but it's ok to just show up, we understand it's sometime hard to schedule. Some of us come at 1:30 p.m. to have lunch together and with any of our visitors from out of town who are visiting before starting a similar group in cooperation with their local chamber or other group in their hometown.

At  3:45 p.m. each Friday a member of our group leads our Denver IDEA Startup Workshop, we invite people to share how they started and we brainstorm. There is a separate listing for it here on our Meetup site, RSVP optional if you want us to save you a seat.

Our business meeting,is held at 3:30 p.m. the second Friday of each month to discuss changes in the meeting format, special projects, volunteer opportunities, and announcements about new IDEA Startup Workshops, Franklin Circles, and Go+Groups that are starting and The Startup Show. There is also a monthly report on the Small Business Chamber of Commerce, Inc and progress towards forming a board of directors, adopting bylaws, and registering with the IRS as we begin to accept contributions and do national advertising.

Would you make a small monthly contribution? $1.50 now, it will be going up each month. As a thank-you, those who pay the small fee are allowed to RSVP for meetings and we then save a seat for you at the round table until the start of the meeting. There will be other benefits for contributors, watch for more information soon.

What is the IDEA?

Since 1994, IDEA Startup Workshops have helped people who are starting a new career, a new project or campaign, or a new business.

We take our name from our 4-step entrepreneurship model: I- Inspiration; D- Develop Alternatives; E- Evaluate the Alternatives; and A- Take Action! Once we take action we get new information and we go through the process again. This is very similar to the heavily researched Babson College startup cycle of acting/learning/building/and- acting again described by the new book Just Start (click).

How do we help?

Those who attend (including you, we've all started something) share startup experience, we brainstorm, and we share information about upcoming events, new books, magazine articles, and useful new websites and apps as we share around the table in final words before we adjourn the formal part of the meeting.

Sometimes the most valuable part of the session is the meeting after the meeting when discussion continues between new friends.

“ What a great concept, and it created a lovely opportunity to meet with other people in the community. Starting a business can be a lonely venture; I'd definitely recommend this to anyone looking to break that cycle. ” Megan Tackett

“ This was a good experience for me. I enjoyed the people and the brainstorming. Since we all face challenges of some type, I would heartily recommend it to anyone involved in a startup activity." Jack Rouff

“ Great format, small group works best for this. I encourage everyone to try this group if you want some help getting started. ” Anthony Sanchez

Meetings are free and open to everyone, we just ask that you bring your brain for the brainstorming!

Who should attend?

Z-NOS is for anyone who is starting a new direction with their work, starting a new career, new project or campaign, or starting a new business.

Join us for a boost at the end of the week, and also those who work with startups, accountants, lawyers, consultants, we especially encourage members of local chambers who are interested in helping their local chamber to  provide more help to startups.

Join us any Friday when you are headed in a new direction with your work and need a boost at the end of a long week, or when you are willing to share your startup experience in the form of a poem, song, story, or what ever way you are comfortable sharing. But please, no power-points! :-)

We hope groups like this will be starting in local chambers across Colorado and beyond over the next few weeks.
