What we're about

Welcome hikers! Do other hiking groups that have 20-50 people signed up overwhelm you? This group aims to provide hiking outings for those who love to hike but dislike doing so in large groups or alone. Other adventures may be scheduled as well. We will be doing moderate to difficult hikes at a moderate to fast pace. Typically the trails will be further into the mountains. This group is for adults aged 25-50 (no kids please) but dogs are welcomed!

The bad: Given this about small groups I plan on keeping track of no-shows, etc and hikers are at risk of getting booted if they consistently sign up for hikes then don't show or cancel at the very last minute. Please be considerate of others time. Cancel as soon as you know you won't be able to attend to give others on a waitlist a chance at the slot. I also ask that people only sign up when they are sure they can attend. Above all, please don't make me be the bad guy.

If anyone has an experience with another member that makes them feel uncomfortable, please let me know. I can't address issues I don't know about.

Looking forward to hiking with you!

Here is info from the Colorado gov website: By purchasing a CORSAR card you are contributing to Colorado’s Search and Rescue fund, which reimburses these teams for the costs they incur to provide help. This is not an insurance card – search and rescue teams will always come to your aid.

The CORSAR card enrollment costs just $3 for one-year, and $12 for five-years, and can be purchased at over 300 retailers in the state. Or, you can purchase them online at: http://www.colorado.gov/dola/search-and-rescue-fund .

This one looks shorter but steep, yay cardio! Please have traction devices on hand in case they're needed. Trail info: 4.4 miles, 1,637 ft elevation gain, rated moderate. https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/colorado/nugget-hill-trail Carpool: Please consider carpooling to reduce mountain traffic and # of cars at the trailhead. Meet the Boulder Justice Center parking lot[masked]th St, Boulder, CO 80302. Meeting time is 9:15am and we will leave promptly at 9:30 am. Takes 30 min to the trailhead. We've built up a habit of collecting a few bucks for the carpool driver(s). Not a rule but something to consider. If all 8 ppl show we will need to take 2 drivers. What to bring: It's now winter in the high country, winter layers and yaktrax/spikes are essential plus the typical rain gear, hat/gloves, sunscreen/protection, snacks, water, etc. See the main description on recommended items to bring. Remember higher elevation means colder temps in general. Rules/Expectations: No Bluetooth speakers Speak up if you are struggling on the trail No guests (the whole point is a small group and to meet new people) Group hikes together at all times
