Let's Explore Local Nature: Morrow Mountain

  • Morrow Mountain State Park

49104 Morrow Mt. Road, Albemarle, NC (map)

    35.371696 -80.096687

  • Morrow Mountain State Park is located in the ancient Uwharrie Mountains and are the remains of one of the oldest mountain ranges in the eastern United States.

We will likely hike the Fall Mountain (4.1 miles) and the Three River trail (.8 miles). This will give a great view of all the connecting lakes. While there let’s check out the Kron House and the Museum.

**Once you're in the park, take a left when the road splits. We'll meet at the parking lot all the way at the end of the road, near the boat ramp.**

There is also a drive in movie theater right around the corner. They only provide information on what they will play a week in advance and it all depends on the weather. So I will post the feature once they post it on their website:
    http://www.badinroaddrivein.com/

My goal is to make this an all day adventure so we can enjoy the park, eat, and watch a movie outdoors!

Below is the Directions list and GPS location:
-From Charlotte, take NC 24 east and veer right on NC 740. After about six miles, turn right on Morrow Mountain Road, which leads into the park.
    GPS:[masked], [masked]

Do to some unforseen circumstances I will have to cancel the event. I might do an impromptu hike @ Morrow mtn this wwekend as initially planned but i wont be able to do so on April 26. I will post this on the discussion forum the day before in the event that I am able to go. I apologize for the inconvenience and confusion.

I hope the new date will allow more people to come in addition to giving myself more time to check out the trail myself, before the event.
