Fires Creek Road, Nantahala National Forest, Hayesville, NC
Come enjoy a hike in the Fires Creek area of the Nantahala National Forest near Hayesville, NC. This is going to be a great hike of about 3 miles through the trail 73 Leatherwood Loop and trail 72 Rim trail. The Fires Creek picnic area is our meeting point, has a restroom, picnic tables, and an ultra clear creek for the fur babies to frolic in.
We'll start out on trail 73, the Leatherwood Loop, and about halfway through the loop will hook up with trail 72, the Rim Trail, which goes past the Leatherwood falls. Absolutely Gorgeous. After about an hour on trail 72, we'll rejoin trail 73 and finish the Loop back to the picnic area. All told this will be about 90 minutes total, and is a medium hike, with some elevation changes. It's not totally flat, and it's not climbing a mountain- just a nice hike that will be wonderful for the pups!
