What we're about
So Young Dance Crew of the Triangle is a troupe of youth fulmulti-cultural dancers - primarily of Asian descent - We're at our 20'S who learn and perform various modern and traditional dance genres, including traditional Chinese folk dances, Hip Hop, K-Pop, and Jazz, coupled with a hint of classic western dance elements. Performing year-round throughout the Triangle at festivals, cultural programs, universities, and many other events, So Young Dance Crew is a non-profit organization that relies solely on services and funding through volunteer work and sponsorship. The crew originated as “Baby So Young” in early January of 2014 by a group of young Chinese professional dancers led by Huahua (cofounder and co-president); Lai Xu (cofounder and co-president); Letian Dong, (choreographer and co-president) and Xiangjun Li (choreographer and co-president).
Since its inception, the crew has expanded insize from six to 20 plus dancers; and, for the past two years, they have held many dance practices, as necessary for the community festivals and functions they are a part of, at the Prime Outlets in Morrisville (1001 Airport Blvd,Morrisville, NC).
Known for their contemporary, interpretive pieces while retaining characteristics of traditional Chinese folk dance, this group of talented and skilled performers do an excellent job at integrating a repertoire of modern dance movements with Chinese dance pieces.
Choreographer and co-president Lee noted, “So Young Dancers are more than just entertainers; we are young dedicated dancers with fresh ideas that perform with a passion and a purpose through expressions of dance and music.”
To date, So Young Dance Crew has performed in various events, including The Dragon Boat Festival, TACAS, The Chinese Lights Festival, DCSSA, The International Festival and CAFA to name a few. They are comprised of dancers with various backgrounds, ranging from students to entrepreneurs.
