ANOTHER VICTORY TRIP!!!! It looks like this July thang is becoming an annual event for the group! I know I am announcing this waaaaayyyy in advance, but who cares-make plans to be there!
If you have wanted to go fishing with our group and have been looking for the right opportunity - this is it. This is the one. Whether you've never been fishing or are an experienced angler, this trip will be great for you.
This is such a great boat. Here's why: Cap'n Mike and his trusty crew are great guys - really nice and extremely helpful. The beauty of the VICTORY is that everyone is assigned a spot to stand on the boat. This means no worrying about other anglers trying to snag your spot (rude!!). Thing is, we have to get there early, early, early - or all the good spots will be sold out.
Here's the plan:
Event: 3/4 day fishing on the Victory
When: July 6, 2013. Saturday. Boat leaves at 6:00 a.m. and return between 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. (recommend getting to landing by 4:00-5:00 a.m.)
Where: Pierpoint Landing, Long Beach
Ticket price: $55.00 per person at the landing (no guarantee on spot). Tickets go on sale around 5:00 a.m. People start getting in line for the good spots at about 3:30 a.m.!!
Last year, we got a rate of $45.00 per person for the group. We are getting it again this year!
Parking: $3.00; If parked in spots 1-21 in the main parking lot. Get a pass and put it in your car dashboard. If you are not in the first 21 spaces. Get a token and go park in the secondary parking lot that is past the bridge. Parking enforcement is very strict. You can also park in the parking structure (prices unknown).
Rental rods are around $10.00-$12.00 per day. Everyone over 16 needs to have a fishing license. If you need to rent rods or get a day license I recommend getting to the landing around 5:00 a.m.. The office will be busy with people buying tickets and licenses.
Here, however, is the good news...if you have not had a chance to get out fishing this year before this event, you won't need a license for this day! http://www.dfg.ca.gov/licensing/fishing/freefishdays.html
See, I just saved you 10-15 bucks right there!
Tackle: you only need to buy some 3-4oz torpedo sinkers and hooks - sizes 2 or 4. 12lb test line is good but I've used 8, 10, 20....
Bring money for the galley (food), parking ($3.00), jack pot on the boat (optional $5.00), tip money for the crew (recommend $5.00), and money for cleaning the fish (if you want your fish filleted, etc. - this is completely optional).
If this is your first time on a party boat, other members will be happy to help you out. The deckhands will help you, too. No worries! Email me with any questions. We had a ball last July on the Victory, and caught tons of Barricuda and Rockfish, including some red snapper!
Any ?'s, my # is[masked], call me or text me if you would like, and give me a call that morning if for some reason you are having a problem finding us.
So - are you in???
