What we're about

This group is for both those who want to participate and those who want to watch . Theatre, classes, acting, casting, art events, anything similar and we will turn it into a meetup.

Sign up and receive notices of the latest shows, classes, events and special offers in Ventura/Santa Paula, and some in LA.

This group is for people who like to see great entertainment or provide the entertainment or want to attend art events but never seem to have friends available to go with them or who are as passionate about entertainment as YOU are.

It is a great opportunity to meet other people with similar interests and have fun. This group is open to both those who wish to attend and those who perform. If you are a comic, stage actor, or anything close, feel free to contact your organizer with details of where you will be performing. If you know of an interesting event, share it. There is so much going on in the LA/Ven/SB area that we often never know about a fun activity until it is over. Join now and find out what is really happening.

As a member you are welcome to post outings! Just click, "Schedule a Meetup" at the top of the Home Page. Follow the prompts and post your outing.

Improv Class - Have some fun on stage, or just watch.

Improv gives you a chance to interact with others in a very open way plus it is a very safe place because we are all there to get out of our shell and all pretty much on the same level. Improv is a foundation for acting skills as well as public speaking skills. You can find more information about classes and shows at VenProv.com I have been taking this class since 2010 and have improved greatly, not just on stage but personally. Improv has many life lessons to teach too. It is about more than acting or comedy. The approach of the instructor has a philosophical element that extends to your entire life and gives the classes great value. Find out more about improv here which explains the importance of saying yes(which keeps a conversation going), interacting with others and more---all skills we are working on: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MUO-pWJ0riQ&feature=share The location is the House Of Magic. Park in the lot and go inside to the front desk. Tell them you are there for the improv class. You can observe the first half of a class for free. To participate or stay for the full class it is $15 per lesson or $40 for 4 lessons(you do not have to take them in sequence so you can drop in whenever you want for the lessons). This is a BARGAIN compared to classes in LA that charge $40 per class up to $100!!! The money goes to support THOM which is a non-profit trying to build an educational facility to help others. If you get the 5 class deal they give you a card which also gives you discounts for the store on other classes taught there. You do not have to participate. You can sit and watch if you are not comfortable participating. Classes are from 7-9pm every Monday. If you cannot make this one, go next week. Don't use the ability to go "next week" as an excuse to back out at the last minute. I know how you think, you wait until the last minute then decide it is much easier to stay home because you can always go next week and then never actually do. Get out and we will meet at the class this Monday. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- As usual: By signing up to attend these events, you agree and confirm that your guests agree to discharge the organizer, co-organizer, and any event host from any personal injury or any legal dispute. We are friends with friends and take NO responsibility for you in any way, shape, or form! You are responsible for yourself and for sharing this disclaimer with your guests. Please be sure you sign up to our events, before showing up! There is no need to RSVP No if you are not attending but if you RSVP Yes then cannot attend you should change to No so someone else can fill your spot. Thank you.

Thousand Oaks Acting Workshop

Goebel Adult Center

Group member Ian has suggested a meetup event for a workshop dedicated to improving one's craft as an actor. It meets on Thursday evenings at the Thousand Oaks Goebel Adult Center. They ask you to bring in a monologue or dialogue, or whatever you want to try out, and perform it. The performance is then critiqued. You don't need to perform, though. You can just sit in, watch the others act out their pieces. You can see video and find more information on their website http://www.to-be-an-actor.com/
