"Laguna Food Pantry offers free food staples for those most in need. An individual or family may come in once a week to find what they need. Groceries are purchased at local food banks or donated by local grocers, community members or religious organizations."
"Two to three hundred families arrive each week in need and leave with nourishment and hope. By providing free groceries, we help relieve pressure on families and individuals most in need in the Laguna Beach area."
Volunteers are welcome on Saturday & Sunday mornings to help with sorting grocery shipments, cleaning bins, stocking shelves, etc.
This is posted a few times per month, but feel free to help on another day. Before going, consider checking with the food pantry in case they are closed due to a holiday or other reason.
NOTE: One person recently could not find the food pantry. Please review this section carefully and click on the corresponding links for photos to avoid getting lost.
The food pantry is between Laguna Beach Dog Park and Pacific Marine Mammal Center.
When driving on Laguna Canyon Road (CA-133), trees and bushes are on the side, and the food pantry is not directly visible from the street. There are no signs for the food pantry and the driveway entrance is hard to see, so finding it can be challenging. GPS or navigation apps may lead to the correct area, but the food pantry is hidden behind shrubs/trees.
The driveway entrance is conspicuous and easy to miss. If driving south on Laguna Canyon Road, it'll be on your left side, like this.
If driving north on Laguna Canyon Road, it'll be on your right side (after the green-colored bus bench on sidewalk).
If their small parking lot is full, try parking on the street. The meters cost about $1.50 per hour. Bill from the food pantry said the city does issue tickets, so please remember to keep track of the time and meter.
Next to the food pantry is a shelter for the homeless, so if people are sitting/standing outside, that's normal.
And here's Bill, he's friendly. He's volunteered there for 6 years or so. Look for him and he will gladly welcome you.
If anyone still gets lost, people in Laguna are usually nice, so look for a runner/walker, a cyclist, or nearby business, and tell him/her the food pantry is between the dog park and marine mammal center, and maybe that will help them guide you. Or call the food pantry and maybe someone will answer the phone - (949)[masked]
