Despite the negativity, divisiveness, and ugliness seen during the presidential election, we still want to believe in the goodness, unity, and beauty in people.
Yesterday seems surreal and many people may feel different emotions today; however, we all love our country and want a better tomorrow and future.
The holidays are a busy time of year, and surprisingly, a popular time for volunteering too. Various events will be posted in late November and December.
Meeting new people (strangers) can feel weird, scary, and intimidating. From my experience and observation, people who volunteer tend to be pretty warm, kind, friendly, happy, and positive—so you can meet quality individuals. You may not necessarily meet your next best friend, boy/girlfriend, husband/wife, or lover from Meetup, but who knows, maybe you can meet some good-hearted and like-minded people to be friends with.
Several other Meetup groups are out there. But if you're here, hopefully some of you enjoy volunteering and meet some exceptional & exemplary people. Among 7+ billion people on this planet, and despite our finite time on Earth, thank you for allowing others the opportunity to meet you, get to know you, and connect with you on a deeper and meaningful level.
Thank you to all those who volunteered without a host.
Going to an event alone (or arriving to discover nobody else showed up) can be discouraging, disappointing, and frustrating. Hopefully you still had a positive and rewarding experience.
Everybody is busy and your time is valuable. You all have many other things you could be doing instead. Thank you for having a kind, caring, and compassionate heart in helping others.
Please have a wonderful conclusion to 2016 and a great start to 2017. Cheers.
