• Food for the Homeless (Riverside)

    Central Community Church

Hi. If you are using the Meetup mobile app on your phone, look down a few lines below and tap the red-colored "Read more" to expand the description. TAP THIS --------- If you are using a computer or laptop/notebook, then you should be fine. Okay, everybody should now be able to see the full description on their screen. Reminder for everyone: If Meetup sends too many emails, then look at the bottom of their email and click Unsubscribe or Manage your settings or account page. Recommended for anyone new to this group or volunteering for the first time: https://www.meetup.com/SoCalVolunteers/events/154414682 ____________________ Meetup allows members to host events. This event is hosted by Jodi. https://www.meetup.com/SoCalVolunteers/members/45913442 ____________________ Thanks to Vincent for sharing about this. I try to spread the word about volunteer opportunities and raise awareness about non-profits/charities that do good work. This event is from a church group, Central Community. http://www.centralcommunity.com/jackets-for-jesus https://www.facebook.com/jacketsforjesus - They have provided meals on Sundays for 20+ years. They're located in Riverside, but they bring food to downtown LA. Wow...they are amazing. They are friendly and welcoming of new volunteers. Even though this is hosted by a church, they are open to anyone who wants to help. Being Christian or religious is not required. ____________________ Most Sundays, they start around 3:30 or 4:00pm, but sometimes they might start later due to a holiday, special event, or other reason—so regardless of what is posted here, please contact them to confirm the start time. Their contact info is posted below. ____________________ btw, even if nobody else signs up from this group, other people (outside this group) should be there, so you won't be alone. If going for the first time, park in the church parking lot off of Phoenix Ave, which is adjacent to Arlington Ave. Across the street is Taco Bell. https://goo.gl/maps/N7jnRucuqBz The kitchen is next to the church building and tall trees. There are multiple doors and some might be locked. If I remember correctly, there's one door with a sign that designates it as a bathroom. Walk past that and the next door is the entrance to the kitchen. If it's closed, just knock and hopefully someone is inside. The kitchen also has windows, so take a peak inside. They usually meet every Sunday at 4pm, although holidays or other special events may result in a later start time, such as 5pm or so. Some Sundays might differ, so please contact them to confirm the start time: [masked] [masked] [masked] http://www.centralcommunity.com/contact-us ____________________ The host / coordinator is Jodi. She looks like http://www.meetup.com/SoCalVolunteers/photos/26031253/436030575 She is really nice and friendly. If anyone plans on going, feel free to message Jodi to confirm the start time: https://www.meetup.com/SoCalVolunteers/members/45913442 If you don't hear back from her, email me ( Wiseman - http://www.meetup.com/SoCalVolunteers/members/69743242 ) and I'll check with Jodi. ____________________ Some just help with the meal (washing veggies, cutting veggies, cooking, etc.). And some help with the distribution at downtown LA, which is optional. If anyone has time to go, they leave Riverside around 7:30 or 8:00pm and arrive at downtown around 9:30 or 9:45pm. They finish giving out the food around 11:00pm and return to Riverside around midnight. Totally fine if not everyone can stay out late, so they understand if some can't join them for the food distribution in LA. Helping just in the kitchen in Riverside is appreciated. ____________________ Photos: http://www.meetup.com/SoCalVolunteers/photos/all_photos/?photoAlbumId=26031253 https://www.facebook.com/pg/jacketsforjesus/photos The Sunday before Christmas, in addition to food, they also give out backpacks filled with goodies: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.804123236364388 http://www.centralcommunity.com/hp_wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2017/11/CHRISTMAS-BACKPACK-INSERT.2017.pdf Videos: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C7kmsy3dihQ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4VznWcAnoqY

Hi. If you are using the Meetup mobile app on your phone, look down a few lines below and tap the red-colored "Read more" to expand the description. TAP THIS --------- If you are using a computer or laptop/notebook, then you should be fine. Okay, everybody should now be able to see the full description on their screen. Recommended for anyone new to this group or volunteering for the first time: https://www.meetup.com/SoCalVolunteers/events/154414682 ____________________ Hi. Would anyone want to attend this event and help host? Hosting isn't hard. It involves being a point of contact in case others sign up and want to meet & volunteer together. If your plans/availability change, and you can't attend anymore, that's fine, just let us know and maybe someone else can step up to host, but if not, it's okay and we can cancel this meetup. ____________________ Throughout Southern California, food is given for free to people who might be struggling (e.g. unemployed, disabled, homeless, low-income families, seniors on fixed incomes, etc.). Individuals, food banks, markets/grocery stores, food manufacturers, restaurants, farmers, and others donate food to partner agencies such as soup kitchens, food pantries, churches, and other charities & non-profits for reaching people in need of food. Caveat: Some distributions occur at churches. I could be wrong, but my conjecture is most food distributions don't involve proselytizing. If anyone is atheist, agnostic, anti-religion, non-religious, Jewish, Muslim, or of a different faith...please know I always ask the respective church group before posting if they allow anyone to participate. If you see this event here, then it should mean they are receptive of everyone outside their church group who wants to help (age requirements of kids/minors might apply for some). Also, if this location (or date/time) is not convenient for you, scroll to the bottom of this description for info on how to find other food distributions. ____________________ All food distributions differ. Each group might do things differently and have unique rules/restrictions. In general, examples of tasks include setting up tables, unloading/unboxing the food donations, neatly organizing and placing food donations on tables, helping with passing out food, assisting with the clients in line, registration/check-in, and clean-up. Some food distributions are outdoors...while some might be indoors. ____________________ I try to spread the word about volunteer opportunities and raise awareness about non-profits/charities that do good work. This food distribution is from another group, Helping Hands, Caring Hearts.. http://www.hhchpomona.org https://www.hhchpomona.org/get_involved http://www.facebook.com/HHCHPomona - Volunteers help with setting up, distributing food, and cleaning. Sometimes volunteers help with their meal service. They have a food distribution every Sunday. Even though this food distribution occurs at a church, being Christian or religious is not required. They welcome anyone/everyone who wants to help (ages 8+). https://www.hhchpomona.org/get_involved Their website says they facilitate up to 30 volunteers...so if anyone really wants to help, consider arriving early before they get full/crowded. A start time of 3:00pm is posted here, but you can arrive earlier to help with setup. Here's their schedule - https://www.hhchpomona.org/sunday-schedule - They also want all volunteers to fill out their waiver form. https://docs.wixstatic.com/ugd/51ffb4_adaf336890ae443bae9f9f4c4a9e0116.pdf http://nebula.wsimg.com/ab18926da7ba5aaf9b6343b640cd3421?AccessKeyId=D3A910543C401DDD2B56&disposition=0 ____________________ Photos: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.868698046573573 http://www.facebook.com/search/158479040839881/photos-in http://www.facebook.com/HHCHPomona/photos ____________________ The church address is on Monterey Ave, but their parking lot is accessible from Rebecca Street. https://goo.gl/maps/CmJDPLD2jeS2 Street parking in the neighborhood should also be available (please check signs for any restrictions / requirements). If parking in the back, look for the rear entrance to the church building, and you should see a sign-in table for checking in. The coordinators are pretty friendly and can show you what to help with. This event is from another group, HashtagLunchbagOC. https://www.facebook.com/HashtagLunchbagOC #HashtagLunchbag started in LA and has spread to other cities, such as Orange County. http://www.hashtaglunchbag.org/our-story The community gets together to make sandwiches and include other goodies, such as a hand-written note or a drawing with an encouraging message. The lunch bags are then distributed to people throughout OC. ____________________ The OC chapter usually meets on the 2nd Sunday of each month, but might reschedule due to a holiday or other reason, so please check their Facebook or Instagram page to confirm the date, time, and location. https://www.facebook.com/HashtagLunchbagOC https://www.instagram.com/hashtaglunchbagoc To help, confirm the date (and time & address) on their FB or IG page, and just show up. ____________________ All the food, ingredients, and supplies are provided by them, but donations (socks, hygiene items, etc.) and financial contributions are accepted and appreciated. Children are allowed to help with parent/guardian approval and supervision. FAQ - http://www.hashtaglunchbag.org/faqs Some help make sandwiches, write positive messages, etc. - They typically get MANY volunteers, so if it's crowded, thank you for your patience and understanding. Their photos show how big their events get - https://www.facebook.com/pg/HashtagLunchbagOC/photos If anyone is worried it'll be too busy and you might end up standing around with nothing to do, then consider going early, especially if you want to help make the sandwiches or fill the lunch bags. Their start time is 9:30 am, but arriving at 9:00 am or so is my suggestion b/c it gets crowded. After the lunches are finished around 10:30 - 10:45 am, whoever has the time and desire, can drive to distribute the lunch bags to people in nearby cities (on streets/sidewalks, parks, downtown Santa Ana, etc.). ____________________ They meet at 4th Street Market, which is at the corner of 4th St & Bush St. They usually meet outdoors in the back patio area. If the weather outside is bad/inclement, look inside 4th St. Market for them. The corner area with silver tables and chairs is one possible place they might meet. Street parking on Sundays should be free (please check signs/meters to confirm). A parking structure near 4th St. Market should also be free on Sundays (near 5th St & Spurgeon St), between Bush St. & French St. ____________________ Photos: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.1433040006806038 https://www.facebook.com/pg/HashtagLunchbagOC/photos https://www.instagram.com/explore/tags/hashtaglunchbagoc Videos: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eGj4fZtWQbY https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-DSPAmW_jvI https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=udc1rbmcr5M

This event is from Catholic Worker Community - Isaiah House, a shelter for women. http://www.occatholicworker.org/help.html https://www.facebook.com/Orange-County-Catholic-Worker-Isaiah-House-130087140351089 - Nearly every Sunday morning, a breakfast is provided to the residents of Isaiah House and the community (e.g. homeless, people in need, etc.). Volunteers help prepare breakfast, distribute food & clothing, serve the meal service, cleanup, etc. Other groups & churches usually help on different Sundays, and are friendly and welcoming of new volunteers. They supply all the food/ingredients and use the kitchen at Isaiah House to prepare & cook. No need to bring anything. Kids can help with parent/guardian approval and supervision. Small children are probably too young to help in the kitchen, but kids have helped before with packing lunches, serving food, and passing out food, drinks, and clothes. Oh, and although some other volunteers might be Catholic...being Catholic or religious is not required. They are open to anyone/everyone who wants to help. ____________________ http://www.occatholicworker.org/help.html One of the groups that helps on Sunday is this Catholic church group - http://www.stthomasmore.net/volunteer_isaiah_house - To help save me time, this is automatically scheduled twice a month in this group, but Isaiah House has a breakfast every Sunday, regardless of a holiday or inclement weather (rain). If anyone wants to help on another Sunday, just lmk and we can add it and maybe others can join you. I could be wrong, but from what I remember, volunteers can just show up to help. Most of the regular groups that help are friendly. But if anyone wants to contact Isaiah House in advance to check if this upcoming Sunday's group is friendly and welcoming of new volunteers, their phone # is [masked] Every Sunday is different. Sometimes other groups/churches come with several volunteers. So if this Sunday is crowded and it seems like there are "too many" volunteers, thank you for being patient and understanding. They usually try to get everyone involved. ____________________ Photos: http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.755457684564277 http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.463498237093558 Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iXJA1T9Xz4I ____________________ Going early is recommended to find street parking and before it potentially gets crowded with other volunteers. Street parking should be available and free in the residential neighborhood. Please check signs to confirm. https://goo.gl/maps/rqEnC2tG92L2 At the front door, no need to knock or ring the doorbell. The door should be unlocked and you should be welcome to enter. Go through the front hallway and the kitchen should be visible on the left. If anyone else is there, feel free to ask if they need help in the kitchen (if you're comfortable helping there). Help is also needed outside with drinks, clothing & shoe donations, etc. If they have several volunteers on this day, thank you for being patient and understanding. Once the food is ready, all volunteers can help serve the food to the guests in the outside area. ____________________ If Sunday mornings aren't convenient for your schedule... ...Another volunteer opportunity in Santa Ana occurs on Saturday mornings. They also get many volunteers, but they welcome new people too. It's at St Joseph's School, 608 E Civic Center Dr, Santa Ana, 92701. Free parking should be available in their parking lot (across the street) or on the residential street. Please check signs to confirm. They start around 9:00am. More info is at: https://www.ssj.org/ministries/46-local-charities-supported-by-ssj/322-loaves-a-fishes-soup-kitchen If interested in helping, check with Maria Dzida if an event is happening on Saturday. If your plans/availability change, and you can't attend anymore, that's fine, just let us know and maybe someone else can step up to host, but if not, it's okay and we can cancel this meetup. ____________________ FAQ Q: Why can't I just show up? If I sign up here on Meetup, why do I also have to sign up with another person? A: I don't want anyone to show up to find out the food pantry is closed, or that they have too many volunteers and room isn't available for you to help. - Note: To help me save time, this is automatically posted in this group, but they might actually be closed on this date. So regardless of the date shown here, please contact the Laguna Food Pantry to confirm they are open on this date. ____________________ I try to spread the word about volunteer opportunities and raise awareness about non-profits/charities that do good work. This event is from Laguna Food Pantry. http://www.lagunafoodpantry.org/volunteer They offer "free food staples for those most in need. An individual or family may come in once a week to find what they need. Groceries are purchased at local food banks or donated by local grocers, community members or religious organizations." - Volunteers are welcome on most Saturday & Sunday mornings to help with sorting grocery shipments, cleaning bins, stocking shelves, etc. During the weekends, they discard old/spoiled items, reorganize and restock the pantry, do light cleaning, and help set up the food pantry for a new week of distributing food to people. This is automatically posted a few times per month, so I don't know for sure if they are open on this date, so please contact the food pantry in case they are closed due to a holiday or other reason. [masked] [masked] [masked] http://www.lagunafoodpantry.org/volunteer - Redundant Reiteration: Regardless of the date posted on here, please contact them to ask if they will be open and if additional help is needed. Maybe a large # of students or another group will go, so it's worth asking just in case they have enough help and it doesn't get crowded. Thank you. ____________________ On Saturdays, the lead volunteer should be Marianna. On Sundays, the lead volunteer should be Cheri. Whichever day you go on, the other volunteers are usually friendly. Children older than 12 are allowed to help. Kids between 12 - 15 need a parent/guardian to be present. Kids 16 - 17 don't need an adult to stay and can be dropped off and picked up later. ____________________ Photos: http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.784472141662831 Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mTukVFxwoo0 ____________________ Note: One group member said she could not find the food pantry. It's between Laguna Beach Dog Park and Pacific Marine Mammal Center. When driving on Laguna Canyon Road (CA-133), trees and bushes are on the side, and the food pantry is not directly visible from the street. There are no signs for the food pantry and the driveway entrance is inconspicuous, so finding it can be challenging. GPS or navigation apps may lead to the correct area, but the food pantry is hidden behind shrubs/trees. https://goo.gl/maps/7ZPwDj7jLPn The driveway entrance is easy to miss. If driving south on Laguna Canyon Road, it'll be on your left side. If driving north on Laguna Canyon Road, it'll be on your right side (after the green-colored bus bench on sidewalk). If their small parking lot is full, try parking on the street. The meters cost either $1.00 or $1.50 per hour. Bill from the food pantry said the city does issue tickets, so please remember to keep track of the time and when your meter expires. Next to the food pantry is a shelter for the homeless, so if people are sitting or standing outside, that's normal. http://www.meetup.com/SoCalVolunteers/photos/26571479/444465995 If anyone still gets lost, people in Laguna are usually nice, so look for a runner, walker, cyclist, or nearby business, and tell him/her the food pantry is between the dog park and marine mammal center, and maybe that will help them guide you. Or call the food pantry and maybe someone will answer:[masked] ____________________ Other ways to help the homeless & hungry in South OC can be found at http://www.sco-oc.org http://www.friendshipshelter.org/how-to-help http://welcomeinnoc.org And here's info for additional opportunities: https://nowimsimplyme.com/south-orange-county-teen-volunteer-opportunities ____________________ Photo Source/Credit: LA Times & OC Register

They are open on most Saturdays, but they are sometimes closed on some Saturdays due to holiday (or holiday weekends), or special events, or other reasons. Some examples of holiday weekends they are closed on is New Year's Day, MLK Jr., President's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, etc. - Redundant Reiteration: Regardless of the date shown on here, please contact the food bank to confirm it is open on this date. [masked] ext. 3493 [masked] I don't want anyone to drive there and find out they are closed, so please contact them to check if they are open on this Saturday. Thank you. ____________________ I try to spread the word about volunteer opportunities and raise awareness about non-profits/charities that do good work. This is from the OC Food Bank. http://ocfoodbank.org/volunteer This food bank is fun to help with and is family-friendly (kids of all ages are welcome with adult supervision). The OC Food Bank is in Garden Grove, which is different from Second Harvest Food Bank in Irvine. - "On a daily basis, volunteers work side-by-side to the beat of music packing food boxes that are distributed to hungry people in Orange County and surrounding areas." "There are work assignments appropriate for volunteers of all ages and physical abilities." "Adult supervision is required for young children." "Volunteers should wear comfortable clothing and need to wear closed-toed shoes." The assembly line can sometimes be fast-paced, which actually can be fun. Volunteer tasks include making (folding) the boxes, putting items inside the box (cereal, rice, juice, canned food, etc.), taping the boxes, moving them onto crates, or breaking down leftover cardboard. Little kids can help make (fold) the boxes or pick up discarded cardboard for recycling. ____________________ Two shifts to choose from (your choice): 8:30am - 10:30am or 11:00am - 1:00pm http://ocfoodbank.org/volunteer Other groups make reservations on Saturdays (companies, school clubs, boy scouts, girl scouts, church groups, rotary/service clubs, etc.), so the food bank might sometimes be full/crowded with other volunteers. Even though their website says "NO WALK-INS ALLOWED" — they usually are friendly and accept a few individuals. I've showed up a few times and they didn't mind, so I think it's okay if a few people show up. ____________________ The food bank is a warehouse environment, so please dress accordingly. Many other people help on Saturdays, so finding each other may be challenging. Figuring out who is from this group among several strangers can be tricky, so consider posting a day or two before to communicate and coordinate. ____________________ Photos: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.1856860114424023 https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.1166293913480650 http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.784467618329950 https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.657627167680663 https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.510368522406529 https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.463512037092178 https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.462536793856369 https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.462296867213695 https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.461312620645453 https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.460399414070107 https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.460375190739196 Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QDzc2ISzIZg

  • Clothes for the Homeless (Irvine and/or Costa Mesa)

    Needs a location

____________________ FAQ Q: What is the address? A: There are two addresses, so I decided not to post either. - Q: Why can't I just show up? If I sign up here on Meetup, why do I have to also register on another site or sign up with another person? A: I don't want anyone to show up to find out the event is canceled / rescheduled, or that they have too many volunteers and room isn't available for you to help. Registering with them will save you a spot with them and they can confirm the date, start time, address, parking info, instructions, and updates if anything changes. Scroll down for more info on how to register with them. ____________________ I try to spread the word about volunteer opportunities and raise awareness about non-profits/charities that do good work. This event is from Clothing the Homeless. http://clothingthehomeless.azurewebsites.net/about Twice a month, they distribute clothes to people in Costa Mesa or Santa Ana. - They appear to be affiliated/associated with a Christian church group, but I asked, and they welcome anyone who wants to help. Being religious/Christian is not required. ____________________ http://clothingthehomeless.azurewebsites.net/volunteers This event has two parts: 1) Load clothes into their van from a storage locker in Irvine at 11:00 am - Woodbridge Storage, 5020 Barranca Pkwy, Irvine, 92604 and/or 2) Distribute clothes at Lighthouse Church of the Nazarene in Costa Mesa at 12:00 pm - 1885 Anaheim Ave, Costa Mesa, 92627 - You can help at one or both locations (Irvine or Costa Mesa)...your choice. If you live in/near Costa Mesa, and don't want to go to the storage locker in Irvine to load the van, maybe it's okay to meet them at 12pm in Costa Mesa, to help distribute the clothes. ____________________ To help, go to http://clothingthehomeless.azurewebsites.net/volunteers Disregard the Friday events, and look for the Saturday events. Look for "Click here to sign up" Click it and on their registration page, Look for "New" volunteers, and click the green arrow to sign up. - Redundant Reiteration: Signing up here on Meetup is insufficient. Signing up with them is necessary. Signing up with them helps them avoid having "too many" volunteers and they can update you in case anything changes. After registering with them, they can provide more info/details (where to park, when to arrive, what to help with, etc.). - To help me save time, this is automatically posted. It's possible they might meet on another date, (holiday, venue conflict, project leader is busy/sick, etc.), so regardless of what is shown here, please check their website to confirm the date, time, and location. http://clothingthehomeless.azurewebsites.net/volunteers or email [masked] ____________________ Photos: https://www.facebook.com/pg/Clothing-the-Homeless-179103718801885/photos Videos: https://www.facebook.com/pg/Clothing-the-Homeless-179103718801885/videos

Kara from PAI is friendly and she tries to get everyone involved. If anyone didn't sign up/register with PAI, then please do not just show up. They might not be able to accommodate any extra volunteers. Please feel free to try for next month though if room is available. Thank you. ____________________ I try to spread the word about volunteer opportunities and raise awareness about non-profits/charities that do good work. This event is from another group, Progression Athletics International (PAI): http://progressionathletics.org They "use athletics as a platform to positively influence at-risk youth in our community and around the world by teaching life skills, accountability, leadership, the importance of education, healthy lifestyle choices, and cultural diversity." "The foundation of PAI is our sports clinics that we use to engage youth and build positive relationships with those who participate." "They are comprised of a free two-hour clinic for the at-risk youth we serve, where we bring in volunteers from the local community who encourage the children to participate in the activities." "People often ask if you need to be an expert to come out and work with the kids. You DO NOT need to be an expert, you just need to have a passion to help at-risk youth!" ____________________ If anyone wants to help, sign up on their Eventbrite page - https://www.eventbrite.com/e/progression-athletics-orangewood-children-and-family-center-event-registration-20678398647 Redundant Reiteration: Signing up here on Meetup is insufficient. Therefore, registering directly with them (PAI) should allow them to give you further info on when to arrive, what to help with, and be cleared for entry into the shelter. If anyone participates in the physical activity/sport, consider wearing appropriate clothes & shoes and maybe bring water and/or snacks. Examples of the sports they play are basketball, dodgeball, football, soccer, and volleyball. The children at this shelter are in protective custody and therefore, taking photos of the kids is not allowed. This is their rule and they are strict about their safety & privacy. btw, if you see Orangewood staff members use their phone, it's because they are allowed to. A few volunteers have taken out their phones, and it's not my rule, but it's the shelter's rule. Volunteers can't use their phones in the presence of the kids. If staff members see you with your phone out, they might ask you to leave. If anyone really needs to check their phone, go to a restroom and away from the kids, check your phone. Again, this is their rule for all volunteers, and not my rule. Thanks. Orangewood's rule is all volunteers must be 18+. ____________________ Some apps/maps and navigation devices have been inaccurate for this location, and a few people have gotten lost before. For GPS, add "The" for the street name - "The City Drive" This address/location can be tricky. The first five photos might help - http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.460501867393195 The shelter is near the 5, 57, and 22 freeways. When driving on The City Drive, if you see UCI Medical Center (hospital), Carl's Jr, El Torito, or TGI Fridays, then you're close. If driving north on The City Drive, the shopping center "The Outlets" (aka The Block) and Krispy Kreme will be on the left. Turn right on Justice Center Way (Style Street). If driving south on The City Drive, the shopping center "The Outlets" and Krispy Kreme will be on the right. Turn left on Justice Center Way (Style Street). To repeat, when on The City Drive, turn on a small street (Justice Center Way / Style Street), heading east, away from Krispy Kreme and the shopping mall. A stop sign should appear. Turn right at the intersection and immediately enter the parking lot with trees. (Avoid the parking lot surrounded by a fence that doesn't have trees). After parking, enter Orangewood, sign in at the front desk, and inform a staff member (behind the window) you're part of a group called PAI that is scheduled to visit. No need to say "Meetup group"...they probably won't know what Meetup is or what you're talking about. Check the counter to the left. They might have a clipboard with a sign-in sheet, name tags, and a parking permit for your vehicle's dashboard. After putting a parking permit in your vehicle, return to the lobby, have a seat, and look for people wearing shirts with "PAI" in front. Restrooms are available in the lobby (east hallway).
