Through the course of the coming[masked] academic year, the SoPE New York TriState Chapter program will focus on teaching members aspects of commercialization of technologies or ideas. Our topics to cover include evaluating the concept’s commercial potential, writing the business plan, raising money, finance, patents, corporate law, manufacturing, marketing, FDA regulation, special characteristics of the biomedical market, and so on.
In addition to expert guest speakers, at each meeting we will hold a workshop in which a member will present his or her idea or technology for critique by other members and experienced entrepreneurs.
The first meeting, on October 9, 2013, will be a moot investor presentation. Our founder Steve Levine, MD, will present a company he is putting together. Members will play potential investors who will evaluate Steve’s company as a potential investment. We will elaborate issues that arise as learning points.
