If anyone is a few minutes late you can probably catch up with us at the bathrooms by the Washington monument.

DC North had a very tiny sprinkle about an hour ago and all is clear now but humidity is up. Rain wasn't even enough to get the umbrella out. Looking forward to meeting folks on my first outing with this group.

It will not be ideal for the moon but we will go anyway. If it starts to rain, we can bail early and go eat.

House of Cards will be filming in downtown DC between noon and 10 p.m. on Saturday. WTOP and Metro list the following streets as closed during those hours. Will this affect our walk?

7th St NW btw Independence and Pennsylvania Ave
9th St NW btw Independence and Pennsylvania Ave
15th St NW btw Pennsylvania and Constitution Ave
Pennsylvania Ave NW btw 3rd and 15th St
Constitution Ave NW btw 15th and 3rd St
Independence Ave SW btw 3rd and 14th St

Johanna, does a great job leading this hike. I did it a few months ago. It was great. It is nice to see the monuments when it is not crowded and the moonlight provides a different perspective. Enjoy

Looks like a fun event! What are our plans in case of rain?

    August 3, 2014

    • Fred

      Rain.

Weather.com says 0% chance of rain for Saturday, and 10% for Sunday (for those who are doing the kayak trip). WTOP.com says partly cloudy for Sat., and partly sunny for Sunday. What's all this talk about rain? Is Hurricane Bertha headed this way?
