Hello, dance friends!
I stumbled on The Block Off Biltmore a month ago. It's a beautiful dance space - bar, food, dance hall - and it's one block behind the Fine Arts Cinema. Cam MacQueen, the owner, is a lovely person with a social conscience, who pays her staff fairly. And she's open to more dance events. So once again, I'd like to invite you to an evening of various dancing at TBOB (as we fans call it).
Laura Light (fiddle), Paul Moore (piano), and Jeff Hersk (bass) will play Swing, Blues, Waltz, and maybe even a contradance - A Swiss Army Knife of dance pleasure! They all play in several bands, have decades of experience, and bring a big bucket of groove to the party.
-- Dinner avaialbe at 6:00 (Optional: about $10; Vegan, and tasty);
-- Dance starts at 7:30. (Don't know all those styles? Relax. I told the judges it was Thursday.)
-- Donation at the door (sliding scale, $5 suggested) encourages the band;
-- Drinks support the Block. They have a nice non-alcoholic drink menu, too.
There's free parking right behind Pack's Tavern, after 5. I'll post a map to the lot. It's also easy to park in the Biltmore Garage under Aloft Hotel and walk over. So - that's the story! I'd like you to come to this second dance in a possible series. It helps us if you tell Facebook "Interested" or "Going" or whatever.
