GUIDELINES for our Walking events re COVID-19 (Coronavirus)

As our current events consist mainly of walks at this time, you should please note the following Covid-19 Guidelines (current at 27th May 2021). Members are asked to use the Stop Covid NI ( https://covid-19.hscni.net/stop-covid-ni-mobile-app/ ) tracing app on walks. We can meet outdoors with up to 30 people without having to do a Risk Assessment. Social distancing of at least 2 metres on all walks must be maintained. Public areas and paths can be crowded so try to keep a 2 metre distance from other people out walking, cycling or jogging. Wearing a mask is not required on walks.

***Guidelines say anyone with a high temperature or new continuous cough should self-isolate for 10 days. This becomes 14 days if you live or are in close contact with someone who develops symptoms. This means staying at home, avoiding public places and group activities (including Over 40’s walks) – even if your symptoms are mild. Stay safe everyone x

Events organised to allow the opportunities to meet and socialise with people of similar interests with emphasis on the fact that 'Life not only begins at forty but is a gateway to a wider, more stimulating social life'.

In normal times, events organised like simple get togethers for good coffee/tea with good conversation, various themed activities/events and great nights with Disco or Live Music. Monthly walks around Northern Ireland (around 5k and i try to suit all abilities); occasional dinner at venues in Belfast and other areas. Variety is the order of the day.

The purpose for every event is to give everyone the opportunity to meet more people and have fun, with no pressure.

So come on, join us and have a lot of fun this year.

***The Serious Bit*** - Please Read Carefully.

We are a social group operated by volunteers, rather than a commercial enterprise and as such obviously don't employ professional guides, leaders or first aiders. I wish to remind you that our walks and events are not ‘led’ but rather 'hosted', and everyone should ensure that they are adequately prepared and dressed for the walks and other outdoor events. Please pay attention to weather forecast, and wear / bring suitable attire.

**We cannot be held responsible for any accident, injury or illness contracted on any of our walks or at any of our social events**
