What we're about

This is social-distancing hiking for a small number of people who want to take a break from technology, appreciate some wildlife and meet others. Are you looking to get outdoors? Do you want to meet new people? Do you want to explore a great trail and make hiking part of your fitness routine? This might be the meet up for you!

We hike Fryman Canyon in Studio City and often meet afterwards at a nearby cafe. All skill levels are welcome. This hike is easy to easy/moderate, takes about an hour, and is conveniently located in a residential area of Studio City with a free parking lot and restrooms. We stop for water breaks, and conversation is encouraged. Bring your water bottle and sunscreen and/or hat. Leashed dogs are welcome.

What a great opportunity to enjoy the outdoors and meet others interested in being in nature!

EARLY Fryman Canyon in Studio City

It's time to get outdoors and enjoy a 1 1/2-hour hike in Studio City!

Social distancing and masks observed. I've limited the hike to 100 people and hope it is not in violation of any Covid-19 restrictions. Please keep your RSVP up to date.

(corner of Laurel Canyon and Fryman)

MEET AT THE PICNIC TABLE IN THE PHOTO.
(It's on the left side of the restrooms.)

There is a free parking lot and parking along Laurel Canyon. People are coming and going so drive carefully and give yourself plenty of time to find a place. Post a message if you are running late.

The first part of the hike is an uphill climb and considered "intermediate". The rest is a gentle downhill slope. There are wide paths and plenty of room for leashed dogs. The TreePeople have opened their bathrooms and there are drinking fountains for humans and dogs. Bring water, sun protection and hiking shoes.

More info about the park: https://mrca.ca.gov/parks/park-listing/wilacre-park/

At this point, don't worry if you sign up and can't make it. We'll leave the picnic table area at 7:05 a.m. Our long range goal is to see as many members getting together on a Saturday morning for a little exercise and of, course camaraderie.
