SMCafeTO Presents HoHoTO 2014

Party with a cause during this holiday season! SMCafeTO is an in kind sponsor for HoHoTO this year. HoHoTO is a holiday event that began on Twitter with a handful of Toronto startup folks feeling like there was a lot more we could do to give back to the city. From a small Twitter conversation to a 500-person party in just a couple of weeks, they’ve since raised over $300,000 for Daily Bread in an effort to help alleviate poverty in the city. Join them this month with other great people from the local tech, media, digital marketing, social media and PR communities on Thursday, December 11 from 7pm until late at the Mod Club!

You can grab your tickets at As SMCafeTO members, you can get a 10% discount by using 2014SMCFRIENDS upon checkout. There are discounted group tickets available for 5 or more people, so rustle up some folks at your office to join this great cause.

If you work for a company that’s looking to support a great cause this holiday, keep HoHoTO in mind! You can find more details here, with sponsorship packages starting at $250: If you have any sponsorship questions, you can contact the team at 2014dec11 [at] hohoto [dot] ca.

I was expecting a networking event where people could mix and mingle and actually talk to each other. The music was far too loud for that purpose. I also felt the event was too expensive given that there wasn't any networking opportunities (music too loud), or any appetizers. I realize that this was a charity event, but I feel that it was still to expensive.

Glenn and Bobby, thank you for your feedback and donations. Your comments have been noted. SMCafeTO was a Sponsor in kind for HoHoTO this year as we wanted provide good will during the holiday season by fundraising for the Daily Bread Food Bank who in turn helps fight hunger for the needy in our communities. With your help and of other sponsors, HoHoTO was able to raise $35K towards the cause this year. Congratulations! We will be cognizant of the event description based on your feedback next year. We believed we were clear by starting with the word "Party" in the description, having the event at the Mod Club which usually holds concerts/dance parties and Andrew stating he will DJ a set, but we are happy to revisit the copy in the future. Happy holidays and thanks again for your support.

I guess the misunderstanding could be from how you said there was going to be people from digital marketing, social media, PR, etc. I guess I felt that meant there was going to be a networking component to your party. Thanks again for the reply and hope to see you again at another event.
